The 444 hoggs levelled at 250p having sold to £137 for Texels from JG McMillan and Co, Over Airies or 287p for Beltex from A and J Wright, Traboyack.

Cast sheep achieved £190 for a Suffolk ewe from Mid Skeog.

Tups sold to £188 for a Texel from Low Drumrae Farming Co.

Dumfries

C and D Auction Marts’ weekly sale saw Limousin cross heifers from TS Farming, Tinwald Shaws top the prime cattle at 292p.

Beef cattle sold to 278p or £2057.20 for Limousins from Midtown, New Abbey.

Texels from Tinwald Shaws led the prime hoggs at £135 and to 308p for Cheviots from Pendicle, to level at 292.8p.

A top price of £170 was paid for Texels from Boreland in the cast ewe ring, whilst rams sold to £216 for a Border Leicester from High Cairn.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 758 prime hoggs to average 273.9p having peaked at 303p for 42.7kg Texel crosses from Kirkland, Forgue and to £180 for 92kg Texels from North Dorlaithers, Turriff.

The 572 ewes topped at £180 for a pen of four Texels from Newton of Tulloch, St Katherines.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts’ sale of heifers cashed in at 261p and sold to 295p for a Limousin from M Orr and Sons, Penston or to £1942 for a Charolais from J Caldwell and Son, Moorfield.

Limousins also led the bullocks at 288p from J Meikle and Sons, Turniemoon or £1882 from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, to balance out at 254p.

The 60 OTM’s levelled at 181p having peaked at 260p for a Limousin from J Caldwell, Moorfield and to £1720 for a Limousin from Mains of Throsk.

Spring lambs balanced out at 301p with prices peaking to 316p and £146 from B and S Scrymgeour, Kinnaird, Kirriemuir, whilst hoggs averaged 270p having sold to 374p and £165 for Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

Easter Ochtermuthill also led the ewes with Beltex making £195.

Stirling (UA)

Trade was on fire at United Auctions sale of 88 spring lambs, 6354 prime hoggs and 961 ewes and rams. The spring lamb section levelled at 315.40p with prices reaching £158 and 361p for Suffolks from Penston.

Beltex from Ballechin and Longfauld led the prime hoggs at £167 and 400p, respectively, while the cast ewes topped at £289 for Texels from Floors.

Townhead dominated the rams with Texels selling to £230.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of bullocks cashed in at 252.7p having sold to 277p and £1828.20 for a 660kg Limousin from Stoneyhill, Keithhall.

Heifers averaged 244.8p and achieved 273p for a 600kg Limousin from Stoneyhill or £1805.60 for a 740kg Charolais from North and Mains of Cranna, Aberchirder.

Beef finished cows balanced out at £1674.37, with prices reaching £2370 for a 992kg Charolais from Cortiecram, Auchnagatt.

Eight spring lambs averaged 287.8p with Suffolks taking the top price of 288.5p and £138.50 from Mains of Cowie, Stonehaven, while the 2665 hoggs sold to 339.9p for a pen of 42kg Texels from Lost, Strathdon and £163 for 81kg Charolais from Muce, Birsay, to cash in at 272p.

The 494 feeding sheep averaged £111.48 having soared to £232 for Texels from Veltigar, Tankerness.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts' sale of spring lambs peaked at £140 and 350p for a pen of Texel crosses from F Dalgleish, Douglas Hall, Lockerbie.

The 4547 hoggs were led by Beltex making 408p or £200 from the late G McClelland, Broadlea Cottage, Ecclefechan, to average 271.8p.

Prices soared to £300 amongst the 2747 cast ewes for Texels from Hindmarsh Partners, Blakehopeburnhaugh, Otterburn, to level at £132.34, whilst rams sold to £250 for more of the same from W Milven and Son, Kirkland of Longcastle, Wigtown.

St Boswells

Bullocks and heifers levelled at 268p and 266p, respectively at Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly sale, with heifers making £1878.12 from Bee Edge or 308p from Greenknowe.

Whitrighill and Upper Nisbet led the bullocks at £2041.60 and 300p, respectively.

Cast cows sold to £2110.90 from Wester Middleton or 237p from Pathhead, to level at 196p.

Five spring lambs averaged 267p with prices peaking at £147 and 272.9p for Charollais from Runningburn.

The 1145 hoggs sold to £146.50 for Texels from Bettyfield or 325p for Beltex from Faughhill, to cash in at 255p.

Some 328 cast sheep sold to £217 for a Texel tup from D and I Richardson, Upper Samieston, while the ewes were led by a Texel at £185 from the same home.

Lanark

Limousins were again the pick of the bunch at Lawrie and Symington’s prime cattle sale, with heifers selling to 303p and £1929.92 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie and bullocks attaining 270p from R Cook and Co, Kinneil Mill or to £1784.88 from Hillend Farm.

Spring lambs achieved a top of £149 or 331p for Dorsets from Moore, Laighhall, to balance out at 255p.

Some 1530 hoggs topped at £148 for Texels from McArthur, Nunnerie and to 323.7p for Beltex from Anderson, Oldwalls Farm, while ewes reached £290 for Texels from K Wight, Midlock Farm.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts sold 60 spring lambs to average 300.8p with prices reaching £153 for Texels from I Fisher, Merrick or to 340p for a pair of 40kg Suffolks from J Nisbet, Sorn Mains.

The 1176 hoggs topped at £150 for a pen of Beltex crosses from M Stevenson, Balcaimie and to 307.7p for more of the same from James Shennan and Sons, Knockgerran, to cash in at £118.44.

The 275 cast sheep peaked at £260 for a Texel from Merrick Farm.

Cast bulls peaked at £2000 for a Shorthorn from Messrs Scott, Meikle Ittington and to £1780 for a Simmental from Messrs Lawson, Parklea.

Beef cattle achieved £1880 for a Charolais from H Wilson, Chapelton or 227p for a Limousin cross from H Wardrop, South Craigton.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold bullocks to 245p for a 550kg Limousin cross from Teawig, Beauly and £1743.75 for a 775kg Simmental cross from Crask Farm, Culbokie, to level at 231.7p.

Heifers averaged 252.3p and peaked at 260p and £1625.00 for a 625kg Limousin cross from Burnside of Montbletton, Banff.

Some 885 prime hoggs cashed in at 249.4p with prices peaking at 300p for a pair or 45kg Texel crosses from Easter Sheeppark, Balblair and £145 for a pair of 60kg Texel crosses from Fearn Farm, Fearn.

A top price of £218 was achieved amongst the 431 cast sheep for a Texel cross ewe from Woodend, Killearnan.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts sold 386 hoggs to average 240.49p with a top of £133.50 paid for Beltex from Messrs McKie, Finniness or to 307p for Texels from Airyolland.

Spring lambs reached £120.50 or 286.9p for Dorsets from Messrs Finlayson, Old Cluden.

The 245 cast sheep attained £161 for Suffolks from Messrs Fitzsimon, Burnside with rams to £207 for Zwartables from Messrs Duffy, The Smithy.
