More than 130 milking animals sold for £2000 or more at the Borderway monthly dairy sale, at Carlisle, where a top price of £2850 was achieved for an entry from Dunfermline producer, John Craig, Carneil.

Selling at this price was Kibbleston Fedora Gloss, a fresh heifer by Sandy-Valley Fedora bred from Kibbleston Goldfarm Gloss, which gave more than 12,000kgs in her third. She sold up to Glasgow with John Montgomery, Croy, Kilsyth.

In an all Scottish transaction, Gavin Struthers, Bankhead of Balcurvie, Fife, sold their best for £2800 to John Richardson, Leswalt, Stranraer. The heifer, Carldanton Doorman Ethel, is a daughter of Val-Bisson Doorman, out of Carldanton Silver Ethel.

Cambus Piston Electioc made £2750 for John and Emma Lyle, Nether Pratis, Leven, when selling to Ian Spedding, Kirklinton, Carlisle. She is the result of the AI sire, Sandy-Valley Piston, onto the dam, Cambus Pendulum Electric, and sold giving 35kg.

The couple sold another two by Stantons Useful at £2650, to the same buyer. First was Cambus Useful Princes, out of Cambus Flame Princess, followed by the cow, Cambus Useful Elspeth, which is out of Cambus Endure Elspeth.

Allan Frame, North Quarter, Hamilton, continued the dispersal of his North Quarter herd with six cows and heifers averaging £2441 with a top price of £2700 paid for a heifer by Overtime. She sold giving 34kg to Messrs Bradley, Burned House Lane, Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire.

Mr Frame also sold a DG Brody-sired heifer giving 46kg for £2600 to the same buyer.

Selling at £2700 was Wreaywood Abro Patsy 49 from Messrs Wilson of Woodside, Wreay, Carlisle, purchased by Messrs Fisher, Dundrennan, Kirkcudbright. She is a daughter of Sandy-Valley Abro, out of the Ex93 classified dam, Wreaywood Manifold Patsy.

Nydie Orion Lynn, made her mark for R and A Wilson, Clackmae, Earlston, when selling for £2600 to Messrs Montgomery, Croy. She is by Orion, and out of Nydie Dreamweaver Lynn.

Ayrshire heifers were topped at £2600 from the Mattinson family, Rosewain, Wigton, selling to Messrs Bradley, Burned House Lane.
