The four hoggs peaked at £145 for Texels from D Crosbie, Chapelton and to 270p for Mules from G and L Ord Auchenleck, while cast sheep attained £201 for a Texel ewe from G Milroy, Mains of Machermore.

Tups topped twice at £182 for Kerryhills from N and N Gwynne, Castlewigg and the same for Zwartbles from D Jolly, Whithorn.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington sold 14 heifers to a top of 290p per kg for a 578kg Limousin from the Gask and to £1883.28 for a 708kg Limousin from Pityot, to average 275p.

The 166 lambs peaked at £160 for a 58kg Suffolk from James Scott, East Ingliston or to 345.7p for a 46kg Texel from Aileen Donald, Townhead.

A small show of 42 hoggs witnessed a top of £120 for a pen of seven Texels from W and N Paterson, Hatton of Cargill, while the 50 cast sheep were led by a Texel ewe from FH Stewart, Wellbank Mains Farm which realised £170.

Rams sold to £134 for a Texel from W Anderson, Pitairlie Cottage.

Dumfries

A Limousin from Newmains led C and D Auction Marts' sale of prime cattle at £1809.10 and 229p, to level at 193.8p.

A large show of 530 prime lambs sold to £147 for Suffolks from Midtown or to 332p for Texels from Druidhall/Braco, to level at 318p.

A Texel from Nether Gribon led the 80 prime hoggs at £486, while the cast sheep topped at £216 for more of the same from Rigghead, to average £141.77.

Prices in the tup ring peaked at £228 for a Charollais from Ballaggan.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts sold heifers to average 271p having peaked at 300p for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw and to £1720 for another of the same from Learielaw.

Bullocks cashed in at 264p having sold to 290p for a Limousin from J and J Rearie, Riggs or to £1893 for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, while Limousins also led the bulls at 278p on two occasions from S Dick, Westerton and M Jack, Carriston, and to £2084 from Mains of Throsk.

OTM's balanced out at 178p and reached 224p for a Limousin from W Dandie and Son, Learielaw and to £1680 for a Hereford from J Whiteford, Hilltarvit.

Prime lambs sold to average 316p having peaked at £169 and 371p for a pair of Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, while the Suffolk Show and Sale champion came from N Lucey, Longriggs, Coalsnaughton with her 53kg entry realising £161.

Hoggs topped at 262p for a pen of Texels from J and D McNicol, Whitecross and to £133 for Suffolks from R and R McGowan, Balchrystie, with tups selling to £240 for a Texel from D Findlay, Pirnhall, Stirling.

Cast ewes sold to £186 for a Texel from PG, Perring and Son, Hoprig, Cockburnspath.

Stirling (UA)

Hill of Errol and Lower Killernie led United Auctions' sale of 1134 prime lambs with Texels and cross sheep realising £166 and 340p, respectively, to level at 306.20p.

The 933 hoggs were topped at £160 for Texels from Dalchirla or 296p for more of the same from Calfward and South Park, to average 260.24p.

A large show of 1141 cast sheep topped at £258 for Texels from Elmscleugh, whilst the rams were led by Suffolks from Fullarton which made £192.

Thainstone

All classes of cattle sold well at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of primestock, with bullocks cashing in at 250.8p having sold to 269p for a 600kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle and £1725.30 for a 710kg Simmental from Chapelford, Buckie.

Heifers cashed in at 249.7p and peaked at 275p for a 590kg Limousin from Mains of Dumbreck, Udny and £1817.40 for a 780kg Simmental from Dipplebrae, Crimond, while young bulls attained 271p for a 820kg Limousin from Turfhill, Auchtylair and £2464.40 for a 1010kg Limousin from Shannas, Clola, to level at 244.2p.

The 151 beef finished cows averaged £1634.33 and topped at £2500 for a 1058kg Charolais from Woodhead of Mailer, Perth.

The firm also sold 308 prime lambs to balance out at 303.1p having sold to 338p for 46kg Beltex crosses from The Bothy, Rivehill and £186 for 64kg Texels from Uppermill Farm, Tarves.

Some 633 hoggs reached 335.5p for 38kg Beltex from Ranch House Cottage, Thainstone and £173.50 for 75kg Continentals from Redbrae Farm, Nether Kinmundy, to level at 257.8p.

Feeding sheep balanced out at £121.63 and sold to £303 for Texel ewe from Skelbister, Orphir.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts sold 1006 prime lambs to peak at 381p for Suffolks from K Gunn, Shop Farm, Caithness and to £190 for more of the same from A Graham and Sons, Barnglies, Canonbie, to level at 323.5p.

A smaller show of 772 prime hoggs topped at 333p from M Shearer, Lythmore, Thurso or £215 for Texels shown by AR Bell and Son, Kirkton, Hawick, to average 268.9p.

A large entry of 4010 cast ewes and rams saw ewes sell to £272 for Texels from BJ and SD Johnston, Nelson Hill, Plumpton, while rams soared to £248 for Texels from Third Farms, Third, Lockerbie.

Lanark

Limousins led Lawrie and Symington's prime heifer trade at 304p and £1953 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, while British Blue bullocks sold to 305p and £1775 from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall Farm, Cupar.

Beef cattle reached £1870 and 261p from Messrs Harper, South Mains Farm, Biggar.

A larger show of 640 lambs topped at £174 for Texels from Messrs Blackwood, Auldhouseburn to 340p for Texels from Caldcoats Beef, Malletsheugh, to average 311p.

The 660 hoggs rose to £172 for Beltex from Messrs Dunlop, Corstane and to 320p for Texels from Messrs Clark, North Garngour, to cash in at 249p.

A large consignment of 1374 cast ewes and rams soared to £298 for Texels from K Wight, Midlock.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington's prime cattle sale witnessed bullocks and heifers averaging 274p and 275p, respectively.

Whitrighill and Pathhead led the bullocks at £1968.40 and 300p, whilst heifers topped at £2033.44 from Kersknowe or 302p from Bee Edge.

Old Whiteburn, Lauder led the way amongst the cast cows at £2415.60 and 280, to average 201p.

The firm also sold 1095 prime lambs to top at £190 for Suffolks from Smailholm Mains and to 369.6p for Beltex from Whitsome West Newton, to level at 320p.

Texels from Muircleugh and Easycare's from Pilmuir led the 55 hoggs at £185 and 272.1p, respectively, to cash in at 232p.

The 326 cast sheep averaged £136.22 having sold to £181 for more Suffolks from Smailholm Mains, with rams to £183 for Beltex from Duke Street.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts had sold 1177 prime lambs to level at 315p with trade reaching heights of £164 for a pen of Texels from the Kay family at Gass Farm or to 356.1p for more of the same from R and MK Duffin, West Brockloch.

The 135 hoggs sold to £150 for Texels from J Walker, Dyrockbank, while the 348 cast sheep cashed in at £131.21 and peaked at £240 for three Texel ewes sold by the Hogarth family at Knockrivoch.

Tups attained £200 for a Texel from Messrs Crawford, Botherickfield.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale of bullocks sold to 256p for a 580kg Simmental cross from Kincraig Farm, Invergordon and £1606.05 for a 645kg Simmental cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, to average 252.5p.

Heifers balanced out at 265p and peaked at 265p for a 580kg Limousin cross from Home Farm, Aberlour or £1625.40 for a 645kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

The 177 prime lambs averaged 272.9p with trade topping at 289.8p for a pen of 44kg Texel crosses from Milton of, Connage, Ardersier and £140 for a pen of 50kg Crosses also from Milton of Connage.

A small show of 45 hoggs levelled at 193.5p and sold to 213.1p per kg and £114 for a pen of 53.5kg Cheviots from Jacob House, Lochcarron.

A Texel ewe from Lochdhu, Nairn led the 744 cast sheep at £180.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts sold 928 lambs to average 310.65p with trade peaking at £155.50 for Texels from Messrs Bryson, Boreland of Parton or 331.3p for Texels from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity.

Cast sheep sold to £235 for Texels from S Black and Son, Hillside, with rams to £189 from Messrs Craik, Bankswood.
