Some 823 primestock were sold through Craig Wilson Marts, where lambs sold to average 226p and top at £125 for Texels from Barnean Farming Co whilst G Hurcomb, Bankhead topped per kg at 255.4p with Beltex.

Cast ewes peaked at £138 on two occasions, firstly for Texel crosses from J and A McCornick, Drumjargon and then for Suffolks from J Wright, 9 The Clachan, Barr.

Ryelands from C and R Smyth, Urrall led the tups at £121.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington sold five bullocks to a top of 275p per kg for a 590kg Limousin from the Gask and to £1835.20 for a 740kg Hereford from Balgay, to average 254p.

Heifers peaked at 276p for a 584kg Limousin from West Bog and to £1784.64 for a 676kg Limousin from Greenhead, to cash in at 268p per kg.

The 445 prime lambs reached £133 for a pair of Blue De Maines from P Cooper and Son, Govals or 282.2p for a pen of three Texels from A Strachan, Clochie Farm.

A small show of 86 cast sheep attained £149 for a Texel from John Caldwell (Farmers), Grange of Conon.

Wooler

A large show of 1313 prime lambs were on offer at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale, where prices peaked at £140 for a Texel from Moor and Son, Nesbit or to 323p for Beltex from Annstead.

The sale of cast sheep peaked at £207 for Beltex cross ewes from Annstead again.

Dumfries

Prime cattle sold well at C and D Auction Marts where trade topped at 294p for a Limousin cross heifer from J Jardine, The Yett.

OTM's achieved £1573.80 for a Simmental from Lochbank or to 190p for a Holstein from Heathfield, to average 160.9p.

The 741 prime lambs topped at £114 for Texels from Belridding or to 258p for more of the same from Heithat, to level at 232.6p.

Some 240 cast ewes reached £166 for Texels from Skipmyre, while rams sold to £238 for more of the same from Glenkiln.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 522 prime lambs to average 239p per kg having sold to 258p for 44kg Texels from Craigmill, Maud and to £134 for 58kg Texels from Craigneach, Strathdon.

Ewes enjoyed a better trade on the week with the sale levelling at 239p and making £185 for a Texel from Cairnton, Forgue.

Stirling (Cale)

Trade was buoyant at Caledonian Marts' sale of prime cattle where heifers balanced out at 285p having sold to 310p for a Limousin from M Orr and Sons, Penston, MacMerry or to a new centre record price of £2112 for a Limousin from W Dandie and Son, Learielaw, Broxburn.

Bullocks averaged 269p and reached 285p for a Limousin from A Kennedy, Seggarsdean, Haddington and to £1961 for a Limousin from J Collier, Dullomuir.

OTM’s levelled at 187p and topped at 241p for a Limousin from Seggarsdean, Haddington and to £1800 on two occasions for a Limousin from Seggarsdean, Haddington and an Aberdeen Angus from Bruckley, St Andrews.

Cast bulls sold to £1660 for an Aberdeen Angus from J Gilmour, Drumelzier.

The firm also had forward their weekly sale of prime lambs which sold to average 249p and peak at 329p for a pair of Beltex from RA Campbell, Meikle Seggie, Milnathort and to £170 for a pair of Texels from JAC Stewart, Kinninmonth, Ceres.

Cast ewes sold to £220 for a Texel from JR MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie.

Stirling (UA)

Trade remained firm on the week at United Auction' primestock sale, where 2691 spring lambs sold to average 226.2p with prices peaking at £135 for Texels from Woodhead of Aberdalgie or to 268p for more of the same from Harviesmailing and Coilavoulin.

Burnbank led the cast sheep with Texels making £220, with tups to £168 for Charollais from Colgrain.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold Prime Bullocks (4) averaged four bullocks to level at 246.2p having sold to 265p per kg for a 630kg Limousin from Stoneyhill Keith-hall and £1734.75 for a 675kg Limousin from Chapelford Buckie.

Heifers cashed in at 255.7p and reached 285p for a 595kg Limousin from Hillocks Whiterashes and £1788.85 for a 665kg

British Blue from Mains of Kindrought Strichen, while young bulls averaged 194.3p and sold to 227p per kg for a 580kg

Aberdeen Angus from Mains of Craigmancy Bridge of Marnoch and £2090.40 for a 1040kg Aberdeen Angus from Milton of Collieston Ellon.

Beef finished cows averaged £1619.16 and sold to £2070 twice, firstly for a 920kg Limousin from Westfield, Fortrie and secondly for a 970kg Simmental from Tillenturk, Torphins, while beef feeding cows cashed in at £1244.66 and topped at £1550 for a 652kg British Blue from Quoybond, South Ronaldsay.

The firm also sold 951 prime lambs which peaked at 248.9p per kg for 47kg Beltex crosses from Kindrought Farm, Strichen and £127.50 for pure Texels from Oldtown, Peterculter, to level at 226.3p.

Feeding sheep averaged £98.67 and sold to £228 for Pure Texels from Home Farm of Auchry, Cuminestown.

Longtown

A smaller show of 1676 prime lambs were forward at C and D Auction Marts, where trade topped at 305p for Beltex from M Lee, Coalfell, Brampton or to £158 for Texel lambs consigned by T Holmes, Nutholm, Lockerbie, to balance out at 235.5p with an SQQ of 234.2p.

The 4370 cast sheep witnessed ewes sell to £265 for Texels from Eastside, with rams to £220 for Suffolks from AM and L Sutherland, Carran, Caithness.

St Boswells

Bullocks and heifers levelled at 271p and 279p at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly primestock sale. Elwick and Oldcastles led the bullocks at £1940.16 and 298, respectively.

Heifers sold to £1842 from Whitrighill and to 312p from Lylestane, while cast cows peaked at £2110.50 from Stuartslaw Farm Cottage or to 273p from Mosstower.

The weekly prime lamb sale was held in conjunction with the show and sale of Texel prime lambs where judge, Ben Gray, awarded the championship to Messrs Fullarton, Corsbie for a pen of 50kgs lambs that later sold for £145 or 290p to top the sale.

The same home also scooped the reserve honours with a pen of a45kg lambs going under the hammer at £123.

The sale of cast sheep topped at £167 on two occasions for Suffolk ewes from Dere Street Farming, Pogbie House and secondly from W.N Sandilands, 2/3 Ruecastle Cottages.

Lanark

Limousins led most sections of Lawrie and Symington's prime cattle sale where heifers sold to 302p and £2035 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie.

Bullocks attained 258p from Messrs Quigley, Harvieston Farm, Gorebridge or to £1771 from Messrs Taylor, South Arnloss Farm, while beef cows sold to £2300 and 234p from Messrs Turnbull, Meadowend Farm, Clackmannan.

A large show of 2240 lambs met a better trade this week with prices reaching £150 for Texel from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw and to 306p for a Texel from the same home, to average 241.9p with an SQQ of 242.3p.

The firm also held the annual show and sale of Texel prime lambs on behalf of Scottish Texel Sheep Breeders Club, where judge, J Stark, Bluebell, Milton of Campsie awarded the championship to a pen of five from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw that later realised £150 or 306p.

Reserve champions were a pen from Barrie Farmers, Howburn which made £120.

A much larger entry of 2433 cast ewes and rams topped at £262 for Texel from Hilltop and to £111 for Blackface from Millden Agri, Edzell.

Ayr

A large consignment of 1851 prime lambs balanced out at 230.9p with trade topping at £135 for a pen of Texels from J Kirkland, Barmickhill and to 310p for a pair of Beltex crosses off J and R Mitchell, Fowler Farm.

The 666 cast sheep averaged £102.06 with Texels leading the ewes at £200 from L Kennedy, Barneil, while tups sold to £150 for a pen of Lleyn from K McWhirter, Markdhu.

The firm also sold 16 prime heifers to cash in at 267.3p having peaked at 302p for a Limousin cross from the Andrew Family from Rowanston. The Rowanston pen of Heifers Averaged 295p.

Three steers levelled at 280p and sold to 285p for a Limousin cross sold by David Stevenson, Drumsuie, while the bulls witnessed a top price of 243p for a home-bred Limousin from J Gibb, South Hourat.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 16 heifers to balance out at 249p per kg having sold to 268p per kg for a 530kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall and £1774.25 for a 775kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Groam, Kirkhill.

The 749 new season lambs cashed in at 232.8p and peaked at 247.3p for a pen of 46.5kg Texel crosses from Ballindalloch Home Farms or £123.50 for a pen of 52.5kg Texel crosses also from Ballindalloch Home Farms.

Feeding sheep sold to £132 for a Texel cross ewe from Pithogarty, Tain.

Kirkby Stephen

On Tuesday, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 3810 prime sheep, where trade peaked at £212 for a 66kg Texel lamb from Craig Douglas, Wetheriggs, Penrith.

Topping the pence per kg section at 371.8p were three 42.5kg Beltex cross lambs which made £158 from Messrs Pickard, Leicestershire .

Topping the cast sheep this week at £235 was a Texel cross ewe from Messrs Balmer, Grassgill, whilst more of the same breed led the cast rams at £215 this time for Messrs Slater, Whiteley Hey Farm, Macclesfield.

Darlington

A Limousin cow from J Layfield, Nackshivan, realised 206p per kg and £1800 at Darlington Farmers Auction Marts' weekly cast cattle sale, with a top head of £1851 being paid for a Charolais from FE Pinkney, Richmond.

Among the bulls a Longhorn from Raby Home Farm, made 216p, with a Charolais hitting £2153 for Ouston Farms Ltd.
