Judge, Richard Armstrong of Wolfa Holsteins had his work cut out at the West of Scotland Holstein Club’s annual calf show, which attracted strong entries in both the calf and the showmanship sections.

The event, staged at Catcraig Farm, Craigie, saw Glenvalley Haniko Rae take the Holstein calf championship for Cameron McGregor. This June 2022-born heifer is a daughter of Seimers Lambda Haniko.

Picking up the blue and white rosette was Arranview Solomon Raquel from Kevin and Alison Lawrie. Their February-born heifer is by Walnutlawn Solomon.

The Red and White champion was awarded to the June 2022-born entry, Mossbog Jordy Brilliance Red from GT and G Borland. She is sired by Cycle McGucci Jordy.

Runner up was the second prize winner to the champion – the October 2022-born, Hillhead Rimrock Cinnamon, a Bomaz Rimrock daughter from Rory Scott and Salavdor Esquierdo.

Winning supreme in the competitive showmanship section was Alison Hunter, with Rory Scott pipped at the post to take reserve.
