Aberdeenshire producer and judge, Harry Emslie, Peterhead, backed his decision at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 500 suckler calves at Middleton in Teasdale when he purchased his choice of champion and reserve.
Champion was a British Blue heifer by Oaktree Gowrey, from JC, and J White, Rigg, which sold for the top price of £5000.
Mr Emslie then went to £1700 for the reserve winner, a British Blue cross steer from DJ Mallon, Pallet Crag.
