Aberdeen-Angus from B and B Kitching and Son, Elstob Cottage, Great Stainton, led the sale at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart when selling steers and heifers for £1590 and £1560 respectively.

Steers averaged £1030 (+£26 with 45 more sold) and heifers cashed in at £934 (+35 with 12 less sold).

The pre-sale champion, a Limousin cross steer from the Stones family, Nun Cote Nook, Marrick, went on to make £1380m with the same home producing the reserve honours which made £1220.

More than 2000 lambs also came under the hammer to achieve an average of £88.56, with a top call of £123 paid for Texels from PJ Anderson and Son, Lydgate Avenue.
