Jonathan Wales and family’s Thackwood flock led the way at a Charollais breed sale at Carlisle, selling the top three highest priced rams and the lead priced female.
Sale leader for this locally-based flock at 1400gns was a Wattwood-bred shearling purchased by Messrs Chalmers and Co, Canonbie. Sired by Thackwood Washington, he is out of a Thackwood-bred ewe by Greenvale Star.
Selling at 1200gns was a shearling son of Boyo Vancouver, purchased by Messrs Herbert, Barnard Castle, Co Durham.

Messrs Duncan, Banff, then gave 1000gns for a Thackwood shearling by Logie Durno Walking Thunder.
The flock from Dalston, Cumbria, also received 650gns for a ewe purchased by Messrs Evans, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.
Top price for Helen and David Sloan, Rigghead, Dumfries, was 1000gns paid by Messrs Smith and Sons, Lockerbie, for a shearling ram. Second at the Great Yorkshire Show, he is sired by the show ram Foxhill VaVa Voom, and out of a home-bred dam that has bred lambs to 2000gns.
