Charolais cattle forward for Archie and John MacGregor’s Allanfauld major reduction sale, met a roaring trade at United Auctions’ Stirling centre, selling to a top of 9500gns with another 10 lots selling at 5000gns and above.
The herd based just outside Kilsyth, which was founded in the early 1970s and remains one of the longest running Charolais herds in the UK, was topped by the eight-year-old cow, Allanfauld Malibu, which sold with her November-born heifer calf at foot.

Malibu is sired by Woodpark Elgin and out of the Harestone Tyrol daughter, Allanfauld Elk, while her heifer calf, Uhlala is by Falleninch Stormzy, the herd stock sire purchased for 26,000gns. The dam of heifers that have sold to 4000gns, Malibu sold served back to Stormy and with Uhlala to CA Jessop and Sons, Moorlands, Coleorton, Leics.
The January 2023-born heifer, Allanfauld Upsadaisy also proved popular, selling for 8000gns to Charlie Boden and family of the Sportsmans herd, Mellor Hall Farms, Stockport, Cheshire. A daughter of Maerdy Norseman, she is bred Woodpark Elgin-sired Allanfauld Nestle which goes back to Jersey that is a full sister to the 11,000gns Gambler.

Her dam, Nestle, a seven-year-old cow by Woodpark Elgin, made 7800gns when selling with her February-born bull calf, Allanfauld Vampire, a Stormzy son at foot.
Nestle changed hands having run with Stormzy and Harestone Oscar, to Donald Macpherson, Castle Hills Farm, Berwick upon Tweed.
Minutes later, another similarly aged cow by the same sire made 6800gns when the hammer fell to James Brown, Cardon Farm, Broughton, Biggar. Allanfauld Night which has bred sons to 6000gns, is out of the Harestone Tyrol daughter, Allanfauld Delight, and changed hands with April-born heifer calf by Stormzy. She had also run with Stormzy and Oscar.

Her daughter, Alllanfauld Twilight, a rising two-year-old by Maerdy Norseman made 5200gns to Richard McCornick, Barnbackle, Lochfoot, Dumfries. She also sold having run with the two stock sires.
Another two lots realised 5200gns with the first being the seven-year-old Balmyle Jasper-sired cow, Allanfauld Norah and her April-born bull calf, Victory, by Stormzy. She is out of Allanfauld Ilka and sold due with her fifth calf, either to Stormzy or Oscar, to Danny Hair, Drumbreddan, Ardwall, Stranraer.
Allanfauld Senorita, sold down to Dumfriesshire for the same money with K Spence, South Corrielaw, Lockerbie. This May 2021-born cow sold with her April-born bull calf, Allanfauld Volcano, by Stormzy, at foot.
She offers some different genetics being sired by Lisnagre Jamson ET, a son of the French bull Major, bred from Ballydownan Simone. The dam is Westcarse Linda, by Mortimers Echo.
Four other lots changed hands at 5000gns including the five-year-old cow, Allanfauld Pandora and her Harestone Oscar-sired bull calf, Vandal. Her family line boasts several five-figure bulls, including the 13,000gns Hustler. The buyer was John Struthers, Greenbank, Carluke.
Jonny and Raymond Irvine, Inverlochy, Tomintoul, forked out the same money for Allanfauld Talent, a two-year-old heifer sired by Harestone Oscar that sold due to Stormzy.
Minutes later, the similarly aged Allanfauld Topgirl, by the same sire and due to Stormzy, was bought by Jim Fisher, Meikle Larbrax, Leswalt, Stranraer.
One of the youngest heifers, Allanfauld Ultrabeat, a 16-month-old by Kenaghan Ozzy, also made 5000gns selling to Wallace Brown, Barrance, Caprickhill, Kilmarnock.
Averages: 13 cows and calves, £5678; four two-year-old heifers, £5250; eight yearling heifers, £3911.
