Grangewood Lucas secured the lead price of 5500gns at a British Simmental Cattle Society sale at Worcester.

Sale leader, from North Yorkshire breeders, AS and YA Leedham, Pickering, was a November 2020-born bull, by Grangewood Glenlivet and out of Grangewood Faith’s Imelda, a Grangewood Damascus daughter. First in his class at the pre-sale show, he was knocked down to Richard Bell, buying for the Bowley herd of CM Mercer, Bowley Court Farms, Leominster.

Another from the same home, Grangewood Mastermind made 5000gns when selling to JW Fenten, Biggin Moor, Buxton. This third prize January 2021-born bull is by the 8500gns Ranfurly Impeccable, and out of the Popes Laird daughter, Grangewood Polly 4.

Two other bulls also made 5000gns, to include the September 2020-born, Wroxall Lost Property 20 from CH Evans and Son, Abbey, Wroxall, Warwick. A Coose Gambler son, he is out ofWroxall Hannah Patience, and was knocked down to WS Turner and Sons, Stone Acton, Wall Under Haywood, Shropshire.

Selling for the same money was Beanhill Leon from J and BE Kimber, Beanhill, Chippenham. This October 2020-born bull is by the AI sire, Ballinalare Farm Galaxy, and is out of the Tilbrook Earl-sired Beanhill Inca VG86. Senior champion at last year's Borderway Agri Expo, and the Welsh Winter Fair, he sold to Mark Evans of the Dewisland herd, Upper Harglodd, St Davids, Haverfordwest.

Storersmith Lister made 4800gns for R and L Storer Smith, Spath House, Uttoxeter. A September 2020-born, entry by Curaheen Bandit, out of the Kilbride Farm Comber he sold to AW Francis of the Furzedown herd at Furzedown, Devon.

Top price amongst the females was 2500gns paid for the polled heifer, Cade Khloe from PA and SM Cade, Paddock, Buckden. She is by Heathbrow Impulse, out of Thursford Debs 10 Ex90, and found a new home with GD Swerling and Sons, Upper Bottom House, Chalfont St Giles, Bucks.

The dispersal sale of the Fole herd from Joe and Rachel Ede, Stoke on Trent, witnessed a joint top price of 3200gns. Firstl to sell at this price was the in-calf heifer, Fole Vivian 89, a daughter of Lopemede Hawaii, out of Fole Vivian 82. Final bidders were L Renshaw and I Brassington buying for the Dovefields herd.

Fole Vivian 88, another in-calf heifer bred the same way made the same money when selling to Daniel Warrington for the Follane herd at Godley, Fole Lane, Uttoxeter.
