Prices peaked at 5000gns at the Brookroad Holstein dispersal from Paul and Dee Bradbury and son David, with a further 10 selling for 3000gns or more.

The on-farm sale at Brookhouse, Whitchurch, which featured 30 Excellent and 53 VG-classified cows, was topped by Brookroad Satrin 185, a VG85 that sold four months calved and giving 35kg daily. The buyer was Aubrey Greenhalgh, buying for a client in N Ireland.

The firm of RL Edwards and Co was in fine form buying seven of the best cows for their Delacre herd near Whitchurch. This included Brookroad Eclipse 135 Ex91 at 3600gns – a third generation Ex-classified cow from the Terling and Lavenham family. Her three-month-old heifer calf made 1550gns.

Noted Ayrshire breeder, Blaise Tomlinson from Leicestershire also picked up seven top-notch milkers including the fresh Brookroad Beechnut 159 GP84 2yr, bred from four generations of Ex dams, which made 3400gns giving 36kg.

Young stock were the trade of the day peaking at 1700gns with served heifers due in the autumn selling to 2900gns.
