Top prices of 5800gns for bulls, 5200gns for females and a near 90% clearance rate for 81 head forward, were the main highlights at Skipton’s Auction Mart’s annual Limousin sale.

Topping the trade was the third prize intermediate bull, Pikestone Ragnar, a two-year-old from Carl and Julia Stephenson, son, William and his wife, Helen,Woodland, Bishop Auckland.

An AI son of Gallaber Leo, Ragnar is out of the Waindale Someboy daughter, Pikestone Heffalump, and sold to Joe and Trevor Stoney, White Wood Farm, Bewerley, Pateley Bridge.

Steven and Richard Priestley’s Brontemoor herd from Cracrop, Kirkcambeck, sold to 4800gns for Brontemoor Reveller, an August, 2020-born AI son of the 17,000gns Trueman Idol. He is the second calf bred out of Brontemoor Lipsi, an Ampertaine Commander daughter and was purchased by WA Dinsdale, Harkerside, Richmondshire.

The Priestleys also claimed 4000gns for Brontemoor Rockyhorror, a December, 2020-born, Cameos son, which headed home with Horton-in-Ribblesdale’s JM and DE Wood.

On the debit side, Brontemoor gave 4000gns for the pre-sale champion, Zac Ward’s Intack Sumo, from Nether Kellett, Carnforth.

This January 2021-born ET calf is the result of a recipient cow purchase from the Handley’s Gunnerfleet herd which sold with an ET calf bred from Goldies Floche and sired by of Maraiscote Graffiti.

The Handley’s Gunnerfleet genetics were also behind the top priced female at 5200gns.

Selling at this price was Gunnerfleet Preloche from Garrowby Farm, Bugthorpe, York. A February, 2019, first calved heifer by Foxhillfarm Manhattan, she sold with her September-born Nabal-sired daughter, Garrowby Scaramouche, to H Ormerod, of Clowbridge, Burnley.

Another from the same home, Gunnerfleet Palome, an April, 2019-born Ampertaine Magnum daughter made 4200gns with her October-born Plumtree Fantastic bull calf, Garrowby Savy, to JC and J White, of Barnard Castle.
