A Limousin cross cow with twin calves at foot from Messrs Wilson, Corby Hill, Carlisle, sold for the top price of £3700 at Harrison and Hetherington’s annual May sale of beef breeding cattle at Kirkby Stephen.
The same home also produced the first placed heifer and calf with a Charolais and Limousin calf which later realised £3350.
In-calf heifers were topped at £3200 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Handley, Gunnerfleet, Chapel le Dale, who sold the majority of the top priced lots.
Heifers with calves at foot averaged £2458.81.
