AN inaugural pedigree beef and sheep sale at North West Auctions' J36 centre saw top prices of 4500gns and 4200gns paid for British Blue bulls from Annan-based Kevin Watret.

Dearest was Solway View Pocker, a Solway View Jackpot son, purchased by Page Farming Partnership, Ripon.

Just behind, on 4200gns, Solway View Piston, was knocked down to TW Bell, Keswick.

Limousins sold to 3800gns twice – for W Holden's Boldventure Jade and her calf at foot, Boldventure Tonya, purchased by M Gibson, Grisdale and for the bull, Tallyrock Rocko from A Myerscough, which sold to GJ and G Billington, Garstang.

Pedigree sheep were topped at 1900gns by the Dutch Spotted Texel gimmer, Eden Dusty Treasure and her ewe lamb by Johnstown Evo, from Alan Smyth, Penrith, purchased by R Park, Ulverston. Eden Valley Fizz, a ewe lamb by Diamond Eminem, from the same home, then made 1200gns to S Ivinson, Penrith.

Peter Woof, Stainton, Kendal, topped the Texels at 1200gns with a ewe lamb by Craig Douglas Dancer, which sold to R Wilson, Appleby.

David Gray of the Ettrick flock, Selkirk, topped the Blue Texels with the ewe hogg, Ettrick Ferny by Lyles Eagle, which sold to neighbouring breeder, M Davis, Rathbone Farm, Settle, and Bluefaced Leicesters sold to the same money for another ewe hogg from the Wights of Midlock, Crawford, Abington. She is by a Marriforth sire, and was knocked down to E Parker, Bentham.
