A joint top price of 6000gns was paid on three occasions at the Border and Lakeland Club Autumn bull show and sale, at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Monday.

First to achieve that price was the British Friesian champion, Winnoch Medalist from Ian Brocket, Park of Barnaigh, Kilbarchan. This rising two-year-old is a son of Beaufort Kabana and bred from Winnoch Penguin 390, which boasts lactations of more than 9000kg at 4.7%BF and 3.53%P. Medalist sold to Messrs Neill and Sons, Mindrum, Northumberland. The Winnoch herd sold seven bulls to average £4140.

Next best from Mr Brocket at 5000gns was Winnoch Missouri, which sold to Messrs Mercer, Turton, Bolton, Lancashire. Another from the Penguin family, he is sired by Goonhilly Perran.

Winnoch Magnum, a 26-month-old British Friesian then made 4000gns finding a new home with Messrs Adams, Kirkcolm, Stranraer. He is a son of Beaufort Kabana and out of Winnoch Flora 169.

Local Holstein breeders, KJ and CS Wilson, Wood Farm, Thursby, sold two bulls from their Warnelview herd at 6000gns. First was the production champion, Warnelview Revive, which found a new home with the Allen family, Hanmer, Whitchurch. He is bred from the Ruby cow family, with his first six dams all classified Excellent. The sire was AOT Silver Helix.

His two full brothers also hit the mark when selling at 6000gns and 4800gns. Dearest was Warnelview Root purchased by the Paterson family, Maybole, Ayrshire, whilst Warnelview Railroad, headed home with W and SE Dickinson, Kirkbarrow Hall, Penrith, for 4800gns.

Feizor Deliberate realised 5800gns for WA and A Booth, Old Hall Farm, Feizor, Austwick, Lancaster, when selling to Messrs Roper and Son, Longridge, Preston. This yearling is sired by Delta-Lambda and bred from the UK icon, Feizor Shottle Delia Ex96.
