IN excess of 3300 lots were on offer at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of plant, machinery and equipment, where 80% of lots sold on-site and on-line, with strong demand and prices achieved across all categories.

The highest price of £34,000 was paid for a 2014-registered JCB 3CX digger followed at £28,000 for a 2012 JCB 540-170 telescopic handler.

The heavy commercials section was topped by a bespoke entry from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, a 2006 Mercedes Axor 1840 with a mobile response unit which realised £15,500.

A 2014 Audi Q5 2.0 TDi Quattro S-line achieved the highest price of £12,000 in the light commercials and 4x4s category.

Cheffins

MORE than 1000 lots of historic and rare items went under the hammer at annual Cheffins Harrogate vintage sale held at the Great Yorkshire showground, Harrogate, where the sale grossed more than £376,000 with in excess of 85 classic tractors on offer.

A trio of classic Ford tractors were the highlight of the sale. In excellent original condition, a 1990 Ford 7810 sold for £22,575, followed by a 1991 Ford 6810 at £17,010 and a 1988 Ford 4610 at £8505. In addition, an unusual 1980 Mercedes Unimog which had undergone restoration was sold for £10,290.

Similarly there was a line-up of classic Massey Fergusons on offer which saw competitive bidding, including a FE35 which sold for £7035, a Massey Ferguson 35 which sold for £7245 and a Massey Ferguson 65 which made £5200.

Amongst the cars, a 2002 Land Rover Defender made £6195 and a1983 Land Rover Series 3 sold for £5250.

The implements, spares and bygones also met a strong trade with more than 90%of lots being sold on the day. Highlights included a Hilliam single-axle trailer selling for £4125 and a rare David Brown three-way tipping trailer selling for £1815, while a Ferguson low volume sprayer sold for £1914.

Carlisle

A SMALLER selection of large implements was forward and Harrison and Hetherington, where the top price of £14,000 was paid for a Hurliman XB Max 110 with loader.
