Carlisle
BEST sorts and well-fleshed cattle remained dear at Harrison and Hetherington's sale of 469 store cattle, where a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton, topped the trade at £1420.
Bullocks reached £1360 for British Blues from Messrs Beaty, Durdar, Carlisle. 
Quality weaned cattle sold sharper on the last few weeks but there was a plainer show of bulls on offer. The 237 reached £1300 for a British Blue cross heifer from Oakghyll Farm, Brampton, with bullocks to £1220 for Limousin crosses from Fartown and bulls to £935 for a Limousin from Awirk.

CHAROLAIS crosses led the price per kg at United Auctions, last week, when the 1023 store cattle on offer peaked at 256p for a 293kg bullock from Kidldalloig and 230.3p for a 456kg heifer from Laigh Alticane. 
British Blue crosses headed up the gross trade when a 632kg bullock made £1380 and a 618kg heifer realised £1190. 
Overall, the 552 bullocks levelled at 208.19p with 314 heifers at 204.1p. 
Dairy-bred bullocks (135) averaged 142.6p having sold to 167.7p for a 474kg Friesian cross from Nether Enoch and £870 for a 577kg Holstein cross from Broadstone. 
Levelling at 167.57p, the 23 young bulls peaked at 216.4p for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from Bows and £1130 for a Shorthorn cross from Glenisla. 
Of the 97 cast cows on offer, an Angus cross from Lochelbank headed up the price per kg at 201p while a Limousin cross from Camieston topped the gross trade at £1270. With 85 beef cows averaging 119.81p, 12 dairy cows levelled at 109.03p and sold to 130.2p for a Holstein cross from Lathalmond and £865 for a Friesian cross from East Bangour.

Huntly
QUALITY sorts met a high demand and were keenly bid for at increased rates while plainer types maintained recent prices at United Auctions' sale of 593 store and OTM cattle, last week. 
Limousin crosses led the trade at 291.3p per kg for heifers from Parks, Rothiemay, which also topped the heifer gross trade at £1340 while bullocks sold to 269.6p for a pen from Ballintomb Farms, Grantown on Spey, as well as £1410 for more of the same from Teuchitfauld, Maud. 
The sale saw 296 bullocks level at 224.8p with 256 heifers at 213.5p. 
Levelling at 142.65p, the 41 OTM cattle sold to £1470 for a Simmental from Corskie, Garmouth, and 191p for a Shorthorn from 1 Broynach, Thurso.

CATTLE of quality continued to sell very well at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of 358, where 188 bullocks levelled at 213.6p per kg with 165 heifers at 210.6p. 
Charolais crosses led most sections as the sale peaked at 254.2p for a 354kg heifer from Westerton, Echt, with heifers also reaching £1400 for a 666kg heifer from Home Farm, Fetteresso, while bullocks sold to 251.3p for a 388kg bullock from Tocherford, Meikle Wartle. 
Leading the gross trade at £1495 was a 690kg Limousin cross bullock from Little Blackpots, Auchnagatt. 
Young bulls (five) sold to 213.4p and £1050 for a pair of 492kg Limousins from Crichie, Inverurie.

SUCKLER-BRED cattle were easy to sell while plainer dairy types met a cautious demand at C and D Auction Marts' sale of 176 store cattle on Monday. 
Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from No 6 Howes topped the entry at £1240 while Limousin bullocks from Herries Farms led the price per kg at 264.6p as the 96 bullocks levelled at 204.3p. 
Averaging 192p, the 61 heifers reached £1010 for Salers from Auchenfad and 232.6p for British Blues from Low Glasnick. 
The 12 dairy-bred bullocks averaged 136.2p and while seven young bulls levelled at 202p.

CALEDONIAN Marts sold 401 store cattle, on Monday, where bullocks levelled at 212p per kg and heifers cashed in to average 200p. 
The sale reached 234p for Limousin bullocks form TJ Paterson, Alton Muirhouse, Newmilns, with bullocks also hitting £1180 for Shorthorns from JG Telfer and Co, Priestside, Kilmacolm. 
Heifers sold to 210p and £1090 for Limousins from A and J McNicol, Pendreich, Bridge of Allan. 
Selling to average 132p, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 141p from R Watson, Thorngreen, Kinrossie, and £650 from W Baxter, Gryfeside, Kilmacolm.

A SMALL show of store cattle were presented at Harrison and Hetherington, on Tuesday, where an Aberdeen-Angus heifer from Messrs Jardine, Newbigging, topped at £900, with the run of seven 14-month-old heifers from Newbigging averaging £879.
