A TEXEL shearling ram headed up Lawrie and Symington’s multi-breed sale of rams, last week, where a total of 148 peaked at £880 for a non-MV-accredited entry from Dalchirla Farms. 
The accredited section was topped at £750 by a Texel shearling from Robert and Hazel McNee, Over Finlarg.

Stirling (Cal)
A PEN of 15 Blackface gimmers from Ian Hunter, Dalchirla, topped Caledonian Marts’ sale of 2880 breeding sheep at Stirling, selling for the top price of £115 to Hamish Mitchell, Easter Mosside, Thornhill
A feature of the day was the stock dispersal of North Country Cheviot gimmers and ewes from John Findlay, Kilbride, Islay, whose 30 gimmers averaged £102 with 175 one to four-crop ewes cashing in at £79.
By the end of the day, 1271 Blackface ewes averaged £37.22 (-£1.66 on the year), selling to a top of £45 from M Campbell, Comar; 467 Blackface gimmers, £63.50 (-£18.13); 890 cross ewes £60.38 (+£5.33); and 252 Mule gimmers at £108.85 (+£10.05).

Lanark
TOP prices of £162 and £132 for Texel and Mule gimmers respectively were achieved at Lawrie and Symington’s sale of 3350 Mule, continental, Blackface ewes, gimmers and ewe lambs at Lanark.
The sale was led by a pen of Texel gimmers from Mrs Toy, Westwoodlane, which sold to E Hamilton and Partners, Gilmeadowland, with Mule gimmers to £132 from Messrs Warnock, Dreva, purchased by Messrs Boyd, Northern Ireland.

Islay
BREEDING sheep sold in keeping with current trends at United Auctions’ annual show and sale of breeding sheep and rams on Islay, where a pre-sale show of rams was judged by Ardtalla Estates’ Charlie McMillan. 
He picked out a Texel ram lamb from Elliot Bowman as his champion which went on to sell for £520, but topping the tup entry at £880 was a Bluefaced Leicester from Ballachlaven. 
Females sold to £125 for Mule gimmers from Lorgba. 
A feature of the store lamb sale was a pen of 16 Texel crosses from Donald McCormick, Blackrock, which weighed 35.5kg and sold for £110 to D Low, Pittenkerrie, with this pen the last lot to be auctioned by Donald Morrison, who has stepped down from the rostrum after 45 years. 
 Upon selling, Donald announced a £560 donation to Parkinson’s UK.

Dingwall
Just short of 5000 breeding and store sheep were forward for Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale, where correct ewes and top lots of gimmers met a firm enquiry.
Top price was £185 paid for Texel crosses from Oldfield, Thurso, with the 939 gimmers cashing in at £92.47 (+£2.49 on the year). 
Breeding ewes sold to £110 for Cheviots from Ose Farm, Struan, with 2518 averaging £53.83 (+£2.06).
Keppoch Farm topped the feeding ewes at £75 with a pen of Cheviots, with the 1434 levelling at £34.49 (-£2.81).
