CRAIG Wilson sold 735 store cattle at their sale in Ayr where 361 bullocks averaged 212.1p or £894.67 and 323 heifers averaged 203.4p or £821.70. The 51 Friesian bullocks averaged 155.8p or £803.14.

Top price was £1240 paid for a pen of Simmentals from Clevance or 256.3p for Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from Mountop.

Heifers peaked at £1165 for an Aberdeen-Angus again from Clevance or 231.1p for nine Angus from Mid Lugtonridge.

Friesian bullocks were topped at 186.7p and £1140 from Barward.

The sale of 45 breeding sheep was led by a £220 bid for a Texel ewe with twin Beltex lambs from Messrs Dunlop, Holehosue Farm, Ochiltree, while the 176 store hoggs sold to £88.50 for a pen of 38 Texels from Dinwoodie Farms.

Heifers (906) averaged 226.1p having reached 298.9p for a 348kg Limousin cross from Ledmacoy, Strathdon and £1330 for a 648kg British Blue cross from Govals.

The 16 bulls sold to 221.9p per kg for a 374kg Limousin from East Mains of Byth, New Byth and £1130 for 542kg Charolais from Ernan, Waterside, Strathdon.

A pen of Aberdeen-Angus cross bullocks from J Mair and Son, Bargatton, were top price per kg at 263.8p.

Heifers peaked at £1120 for Limousin croses from WK Borthwick and Sons, Shangan, Dunscore, whilst top price per kg was 248.6p paid to A McCormick and Co, Barnbackle, for a pen of Charolais crosses.
