Just shy of 9500 store lambs and feeding sheep were forward for United Auctions' sale at Stirling on Monday which included a show and sale of Blackface wedder lambs, judged by D Bartlett, Newton of Caldwells.

His choice of champion winners, a pen from Blackmountain Farms, sold for £50 per head, while the second prize pen made £51.50 for the Firm of Shawhead. The third prize pen from the Bennies at Merkins, realised £61.50.

Overall averages mostly improved on the week with Beltex crosses at £65.98 (+£5.04); Texel crosses at £59.81 (+£1.49); Suffolk crosses, £62.48 (+£4.06); Cheviots at £49.80; Mules at £53.89 (-0.93) and Blackfaces at £41.90 (-£1.90).
