Lanark
Trade peaked at £220 for pure Texel gimmers from Collielaw, at Lawrie and Symington’s second breeding sheep sale at Lanark, which saw 3092 ewes, gimmers, ewe and store lambs forward.

Hexham 
AN increased entry of 2640 head was forward for Hexham and Northern Marts’ show and sale of Mule gimmers which peaked at £195 and £190 for entries rom Joe Vickers, South Rennington.
His dearest, a pen of 10 out of Blackface ewes were champion at the pre-sale show and sold to W Murray Farming, Redden, Kelso.
The reserve pen from JC and C MacDonald, Light Birks, were out of Swaledale ewes and made £168 to Hector and Rodger Rutherford, Low Eshells.
Cheviot Mules from Flotterton also sold at £195.

Ayr
A GOOD show of 4258 breeding sheep was forward for Craig Wilson’s Blackface sale at Ayr, where a pen of Texel gimmers from Andy Paton, Craig, Straiton, topped the trade at £218.
The entry of 1316 Blackface ewes, 631 Blackface gimmers, 102 Mule gimmers, 157 Texel gimmers, 199 Cheviot gimmers, 357 Mule ewe lambs, 170 Mule correct ewes and 1226 store lambs, also saw Craig, Straiton, topped the Blackface draft ewe section with a pen at £84.
Blackface gimmers peaked at £147 for a pen from Robert McInnes, Greystone Knowe, Fenwick.
Overall, Blackface ewes averaged £60.61(-£10.67 on the year), with Blackface gimmers levelling at £100.07 (+ £4.70). 
Cheviot gimmers sold to £141 from T Blackhurst, Bynehill, Girvan, with Lleyn crosses to £102 from Messrs McKinnon, North Sannox, Isle of Arran. 
And a small show of Mule Gimmers forward resulted in the dearest trade of the season selling to £141 from S Rorrison, Dallowie, Patna.

Newton Stewart
BLACKFACE draft ewes sold better than expected at Craig Wilson’s small sale at Newton Stewart where some 745 store and breeding sheep were cashed.
Top price was £75 per head paid for a pen from John Scott, Garchew, with the sale averaging £65 – down £5 on last year’s high levels.

Castle Douglas

Averages slipped on the year and for fewer sold at Wallets Marts’ second sale of Scotch Mule ewe lambs, gimmers and stock ewes.
This year’s sale saw an overall average of £80.45 for 1994, compared to £83.49 for 2140 at the same sale in 2016.
Some 1730 Scotch Mule and Texel ewe lambs sold to £102 for a pen of Texels from S Black and Son, Hillside, while Scotch Mules peaked at £101 from Balmurrie.
Scotch Mule gimmers sold to £118 from Castlegower, Gelston.
The dispersal of the Fellend flock of 240 Lleyn cross ewes reached a top of £106.
