The championship rosette was awarded to the first prize pen of continental hoggs with Beltex lambs at the annual show and sale of hoggs with lambs staged at J36 Rural Auction Centre, for EJ Ward and Son, Nether Kellet, which the judges, Chris and Elaine, Dent, Barnard Castle, went on to back their decision and purchase the outfits for £380.
The reserve honours went to Mule gimmer hoggs from G Sowerby and Son, Appleby, which again sold to the judges this time for £300, the same home sold Mule hoggs to £360.
Top price however went to Beltex hoggs with Beltex lambs from NL and C Brown, Claughton, which made £395, closely followed at £390 for the second prize pen of continental hoggs from JH and JE Taylor, Ainstable.
