United Auctions had forward 3617 breeding sheep on Monday, where the sale was topped by a Mule hogg with a single Bluefaced Leicester ewe lamb at foot from A McKenzie and Partners, Ardgate, realising £520 per life.

Averages were up across the board, with Scotch Mule hoggs with lambs cashing in at £127.06 per life (+£19.65 on the year), whilst Texel crosses and Suffolk crosses balanced out at £123.51 (+£16.99) and £130.09 (+£13.65) respectively. Aberfield hoggs levelled out at £137.60 (+£26.10), with Cheviot Mules averaging £131.75 (+ £16.64).

Mule hoggs with lambs achieved £152 on two occasions firstly for D Hamilton, Allanton, and again from A and M Barr, Easter Bucklyvie.

Allanton, were back in the money when their Texel cross hoggs with lambs made £150, and their Aberfield cross Cheviots attained £140.

Among the gimmers, Mules with Texel cross lambs made £118 for S McPherson, Dell, with Texel crosses with lambs peaking at £112 for N and J Aitchison, Newbigging.

Allan MacKellar, Seaview, had a field day among the ewe section when selling to a top of £128 and £125 for Beltex crosses and Texel crosses with lambs respectively.
