A pair of Texel gimmers from D Morrison, Dalwyne, attracted the top price of £280 at Craig Wilson's sale of 3780 sheep.

Blackface ewe lambs sold to £112 for Andrew Paton and Co, Craig, with the section averaging £89.64 (+£1.25 on the year), whilst Mule ewe lambs levelled at £116.94 (-£13.14) having sold to £140 from Messrs Borthwick, Lightshaw.

Mule gimmers levelled at £185.66 (+£8.81) peaking at £200 on two occasions – from Messrs Fleming, Firm of Shawhead, and Messrs Craig, Rankinston.

Gimmers (782) averaged £157.18 (+£18.92 on the year) and sold to £250 for Texel crosses from Ballindalloch Home, whilst ewes (377) cashed in at £67.11 selling to £170 for a Millenium Bleu cross from Camult Muir, Kiltarlity.

Store lambs (229) averaged £66.56 with a top of £94 for a pen of crosses from Druim Temple Croft, Gorthleck.

On Monday, a new centre record for Blackface ewe lambs was achieved at Wallets Marts' annual Blackface ewe lamb sale, when a pen of 20 were knocked down at £215 for Messrs Ramsay, Milnmark.

The 1970 lambs forward averaged £101.16 (-£0.76).
