Father and son duo, Richard and Mark Ireland, Heys Farm, Whalley, did the double by taking both the champion and reserve honours at CCM Skipton Auction Mart’s November prime lambs show and sale.
The lambs are by home-bred Shamrock Beltex rams out of Texel-cross females and were tapped out by show judge, Mick Etherington, Eldwick.
Both joined regular buyer, Knavesmire Butchers, York, the 51kg victors at a sale-topping £195 per head, 381p/kg and the 44kg reserve champions at £185 each, 420p top price per kg.
The Irelands also chipped in with a further 53kg pen at £180.
The third prize 36kg Continental crosses from Brian and Linda Lund, Walshaw, Hebden Bridge, made £140 or 388p/kg, whilst the first prize 52kg Suffolk crosses from RA and M Earnshaw, Flasby, sold for £133 to Andrew Atkinson, Felliscliffe.
A solid entry of 2594 prime lambs achieved an overall average of £124.84 per head or 274.4p with a SQQ of 281.3p.
