Just shy of 6000 North of England Mules, Suffolk and Texel cross ewes and gimmers were forward for Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart's annual show and sale which saw an overall average of £203.95.
Aged ewes were topped at £210 for a pen of 34 three-shear ewes from JJ and A Brough, Clappers, to average £193.25, up a massive £66 on the year.
Two-shear Mule ewes levelled at £206.20, having sold to £320 ahead for the champion pen of 15 from R Brough, Langfauld, who sold 50 to average £287.98.

Mule gimmers were topped at £300 from M Ridsdale and Son, Yew Tree Farm, who sold 140 to average £241.59.
Leading the continentals at £390, was a pure Texel gimmer from A and C Watson, Rowan Garth.
By the end of the day, Mule gimmers averaged £209.22, up £36 on the year; two-shear Mule ewes cashed in at £206.20 (+£35) and continental gimmers levelled at£230.21 (+£50).
