Averages improved on the year at a show and sale of Bluefaced Leicester rams at Castle Douglas, where a top price of £3200 was achieved for a shearling from local breeders, Robert and Fiona McKie, Finniness.
Their pen leader, by a M1 Nunscleugh, out of a home-bred ewe, was purchased by Jim Walker, Drumbuie, Sanquhar.
The same buyer went to £2200 twice for the first and second shearling rams from Mrs S Hamilton's Cairn Smiddy flock from The Tower, Sanquhar. The pen leader is sired by a R4 Wythop Hall, with the second being a son of a K2 Happrew.

Judge, Neil Donnan, Newton Stewart, found his champion in a shearling ram from Robert McTurk, Barlaes, Dalry, Castle Douglas. A son of the P1 Manesty tup bought as a lamb at Carlisle in 2020 for £5000, he sold to the judge for £2700.
Reserve was the first prize ram lamb from Burnfoot Farms' Ulzieside flock from Sanquhar. He is sired by a home-bred son of a M22 Macqueston, and sold to James Nisbet of the Nisbets flock, Sorn, Mauchline, for £2400.
The O.B flock of G and M McMillan, Over Barskeoch, Dalry, Castle Douglas, was another to take £2200 for a shearling ram. This big tup is by a P7 Farden and goes back to Temain, Farden and Macqueston breeding. He sold to Messrs Lockhart, Culdoach, Kirkcudbright.
