TREELINE WOODLANDS is taking its business forward in a variety of interesting ways, with the help of the second generation of its founding family.

The firm was set up almost 30 years ago by Gavin Marshall and has been actively involved in the establishment of woodland throughout the last thirty years, amassing a wealth of experience in all aspects of establishment, from the planning of the project, through the process of ensuring the best possible financial support package, to the successful execution of the scheme, using up-to-date methods of ground preparation, tree planting, and maintenance.

Nine years ago, Gavin’s son, Nick, joined the partnership and the family business is now driven by fresh blood and ideas.

One innovation is timber harvesting with an emphasis on the use of low ground pressure machinery, ensuring that the site is left ready for the establishment of the next crop.

Another is the supply of timber to the fencing industry, and the sale of a wide variety of fencing materials from its timber yard. This aspect of the business is proving particularly successful at the current time, under the direction of another family member, Nick’s brother-in-law, Keith Renz. The aim is to offer long lasting fencing materials, at a competitive price, including Norwegian grown creosoted timber with a 40 year service life, and high quality Tornado wire..

The business has for some time been concentrating on the conversion of timber for the biomass industry, and this has proved particularly successful. Treeline recently joined forces with Fuelwood, who are market leaders in the supply of a wide variety of firewood and other biomass conversion machinery, and are able to demonstrate and supply these machines from their base in the Pentland Hills.
