LANGHOLM trainer James Ewart completed a victorious double at Hexham on June 11.

Ueueteotl posted a 4-1 success in the opening amateur riders handicap hurdle race, before stablemate Lord Wishes was the 6-1 winner of the 2½-mile handicap hurdle race.

Fife jockey, Kit Alexander, got Ueueteotl up by a neck to beat the favourite.

Langholm jockey, Dale Irving, enjoyed a more comfortable success aboard Lord Wishes, who cruised home 12 lengths clear.

Carrutherstown trainer, Iain Jardine, saddled Oriental Tiger to land the 1m 4f handicap at Haydock on June 9.

Getting off the mark at the 13th time of asking, the five-year-old appeared to appreciate the longer trip.

Fresh on the heels of that success, Shrewd made a worthwhile trip to York on June 10, to post a 12-1 victory in the 1m 6f handicap for the Hetland Hill stable.

“The race fell right for him as they went quick,” said Iain, who has his string in great form.

“I was worried about the good to firm ground in the morning and when the heavens opened I was delighted,” he added.

St Boswells owners, Paul and Clare Rooney, saw their colours carried to victory by Gabrial the Great – 3-1 winner of the two-mile novice chase at Newton Abbot on the same afternoon.

The Borders couple also celebrated a victorious double at Southwell’s evening fixture on June 7.

Their first success came with the Kim Bailey-trained Sonneofpresenting racing in the 2½-mile handicap hurdle race, before Calva D’Honore, trained by Ben Pauling, landed the concluding bumper race.
