Galloway Branch of The Pony Club had a successful trip to Ingliston Equestrian Centre, Renfrewshire. As part of the Pony Club’s Area 19, Galloway members took part in the annual team show jumping competition against other clubs from all over the west and south of Scotland.

It was a busy day with 196 combinations competing. Club instructor Ruth McGarry was on hand all day to course-walk and help with warming up. She was kept very busy with members competing in both the indoor and outdoor arenas, sometimes at the same time!

Caitlin and Quinn Jolly represented the club at Intermediate level as individuals and both had good rounds with Caitlin going into a jump-off to achieve 6th place out of a field of 37.

The novice team jumped a 90/95cm course and comprised of Charlotte Service, Mollie and Izzy Miller-Smith and Isla Forsyth who had a fantastic result with the whole team having to jump off to win second place out of 16 teams, beaten only by a small margin by Stewartry Branch.

This means that both clubs will travel to the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire on August 19. This is an amazing achievement for these small clubs and will be a big event for the girls and their families.

Eilidh Fisher & Miami Hourglass competed as individuals and also went well.

The new regional competition saw Galloway put two teams forward over an 80/85cm course. The first team of Mairi Fisher, Carolyn Fisher, Lucy Gaw and Susannah Service were placed 11th out of 20 teams and have qualified to go to the next stage of this competition against teams from the rest of Scotland, Northern Ireland and North of England. This takes place on the 7th August at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre nr Selkirk.

This team was also awarded fourth place for their Tack and Turnout . The other team of Becky Dalrymple, Joanne Wallace and Tammy Campbell did well and enjoyed their big day out. For most of the members doing this class it was their first trip to the prestigious Ingliston venue, several staying overnight and stabling ponies there too it was a great experience for them and their families Well done everyone who took part on the day, you represented Galloway very well and a big thank you to all their supporters who came to cheer them on, it was much appreciated!
