DANNY Tudhope is enjoying a purple patch and the Irvine jockey ended April on a winner.

He rode Black Isle Boy to a 16-1 victory in the feature six-furlong handicap at Thirsk, on Monday. It was his second success on the trot, having partnered Highland Bobby to a 5-1 win in the one-mile handicap at Wetherby, the previous afternoon.

He also had a winner on the all-weather at Lingfield on April 25, riding Black Sails to win the seven-furlong claiming stakes, and was back in the winner’s enclosure at Beverley, the following afternoon, riding Trading Point to head the opening division of the one-mile handicap.

Hawick jockey Jason Hart also ended April in winning form, riding Revenge to land the six-furlong handicap on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.

Iain Jardine has his Hetland Hill stable in great heart and the Carrutherstown-based trainer added another winner to his tally at Perth on April 25. Rainy City carried the trainer’s own colours to a 3-1 victory in the three-mile novice chase.

Perth Festival concluded with the northern jump jockeys award, which saw Brian Hughes crowned champion and Ross Chapman land the conditional award.

Ross is based at Iain Jardine’s yard, and has enjoyed a fantastic campaign, including a four-timer at Ayr earlier this year, where he narrowly missed out on a 100% strike rate when narrowly beaten on his only other ride by champion jockey, Richard Johnson.

Northumberland handler Susan Corbett saddled Morning with Ivan to head the two-mile handicap hurdle race at Perth.

Keith Dalgleish recorded a winner at Beverley on April 26, saddling Rita’s Man to a 4-1 win in the 1m 2f handicap.

Harry Reed is in cracking form and he rode another winner when bringing home Bugsie Malone to land the three-mile handicap chase at Kempton.

St Boswells owners, Paul and Clare Rooney, were also in the winner’s enclosure, when Who’s My Jockey won the novice hurdle race.

At Perth, Milnathort-based Lucinda Russell won the two-mile handicap hurdle race with The Compeller.

“He ran well when second at Musselburgh last time, and I thought he would go well today,” said Lucinda, who also had a winner at the track the following afternoon.

Thorpe – returning from a three-month absence – headed the 2½-mile handicap hurdle race in the hands of Blair Campbell, giving the Hawick jockey his best-ever season.

Winning hurdler, Mirsaale, returned to the Flat at Ripon, on April 28 and won the two-mile handicap, beating stablemate Eye of the Storm by a head. The 12-1 chance and the runner-up are both trained at Carluke by Keith Dalgleish.

Langholm jockey, Jamie Gormley, rode Mitchum to win the five-furlong handicap at Wetherby, on April 29.

Thistle Bloodstock has been leading owner at Hamilton for the past three seasons and Glasgow-born owner, Jimmy Long, now has a new trainer for his large string of horses. The Ireland-based contingent will now be trained by Robbie Osborne, following the departure of Pat Shanahan.
