A HOME-BRED Highland pony mare from Sally Murray’s Lurgan stud landed her first big in-hand win at Aberfeldy Show where she went on to stand overall Highland pony champion and heavy horse champion.
The nine-year-old – by Sally’s former stud stallion, Red Rock Dunain, and out of Tessa of Alltnacailleach – has always been in the tickets while shown in hand but has done better under saddle, heading up the ridden championship at Aberfeldy last year having won the novice section before going on to stand reserve novice ridden champion in a huge section at Blair a couple weeks later.
Tay was shown on the day by Kenna Murdoch, who has been helping Sally with her ponies since moving to the area.
