More than 45,000 people are expected to journey to Blair Castle, in Perthshire, for the annual Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials, between Thursday and Sunday, August, 23-26. Scotland’s premier equestrian event, visitors will travel from across the globe to watch an estimated 1800 horses compete.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Blair Castle, attendees will be able to watch a number of events take place throughout each of the four days, including the exciting cross country, the Highland pony show, British Show Jumping and Pony Club mounted games. One highlight of the weekend will be watching international riders competing in the finale of the event rider 'Masters' series.

Families can take a break from the competition action to watch the Bruadar Country Fair – taking in the antics of the ducks and dogs in the Quack Commandos, cheering on the pig racing or enjoying the vintage tractors before experiencing the excitement of the Horse Power Cossack Show.

The historic grounds will also host a pop-up shopping village for the duration of the event, with more than 200 stalls housing everything from gorgeous home accessories to a bottle of your favourite tipple and stylish country clothing.

Whisky lovers can book tickets to an exclusive whisky tasting with official drinks partner, Bruadar, with all proceeds being donated to the chosen charity for this year’s International Horse Trials, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

Andrew Bruce Wooton, general manager at Atholl Estates, said: “The Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials always prove to be an incredible few days, with a wealth of local and international visitors coming together to cheer on over 1800 talented equestrians.

“Blair Castle is the perfect setting for this prestigious event, with both the venue and the horse trials steeped in history. Paul Bush, VisitScotland’s director of events, added: “The trials are a key fixture in our annual calendar of events, helping drive Scotland’s visitor economy by attracting equestrian fans from across the world to our shores. EventScotland has been a long-term supporter of the event and we are delighted to be continuing our support in 2018.
