LAST Saturday’s Lanark, Biggar and Peebles Foal Show, saw much of the silverware travelling north to the county of Fife.

A lorry load of entries from Ron and Pete Black, Collessie, Ladybank, produced the day’s supreme champion – Lutterington Butterfly, a May-born daughter of Collessie New Approach, out of Coachmills Lady Helen, a Collessie Whinhill President-sired mare. She was reserve the previous week at Kilmarnock.

The Blacks also brought out the reserve filly foal champion, Collessie First Choice. Bred at Collessie and now owned by Natalie Young, Tollhouse, Cleish, this junior is by past Cawdor Cup winner, Arradoul Balvenie.

Also heading to Fife was the senior championship which was taken by Scott Greenhill, Leuchars Lodge, Leuchars. His home-bred six-year-old mare, Fordelhill Jubilee Ruby, is by Collessie Whinhill President and out of the Greendykes Benjie-sired, Fordelhill Lady Margaret.

The judge, Alistair Christie, from Balfron, awarded the reserve supreme championship to Charlotte Young’s colt foal, Doura Navigator, from Hall, Ayr. Shown by her father, Jim, while Charlotte is overseas at the World Clydesdale Show, this senior colt bred in Northern Ireland and had been reserve colt foal champion at Kilmarnock. He is a full brother to last year’s big winner and Cawdor Cup winner, Doura Magic Touch, being by Glebeview Sir Charles and out of the Carnaff Ambassador-sired mare, Ballinrees Lady Jane.

Reserve senior was West Glen Rambling Rose, from Agnes Jackson and Allan Craig, Thankerton, Biggar. This five-year-old mare is a daughter of Dillars Boat Commander out of Fawnspark Holly, a Dillars Leader mare.

Kirsty Donald, Sandford, Strathaven, had the reserve colt foal in Craigview Ralph. He is a home-bred senior by Dillars Top Gun.
