CHIGACO Outfit scored his second success in a fortnight for trainer George Bewley and his jockey son, Jonathon, on a good afternoon for Hawick connections.

Having landed a wide-margin success at Hexham on May 26, the progressive gelding defied a 12lbs ride to repeat the feat on June 6.

The three-mile handicap chase victor is trained at Southdean by George, and was ably ridden to both victories by son, Jonathon.

"We ran him in the selling chase at Kelso and Jonathan came back and said all he does is stay. So last time I told him to go off as fast as he could and he won well," explained George.

Another Hawick handler in winning form the same afternoon, was Alistair Whillans, who sent 11-1 chance Opt Out to land the seven-furlong handicap at Musselburgh.

Up in trip, the five-year-old relished the fast ground.

Keith Dalgleish is also a native of the Borders town, and he sent Tommy Docc from his in-form Carluke stable to head the Edinburgh Cup.

The 11-1 winner was posting his third success from five starts.

At Newcastle, Hawick jockey Jason Hart rode Woody Bay to win the seven-furlong handicap.

Teenager Tom Hamilton, also from Hawick, was in the winner's enclosure at Hexham's evening meeting on May 26, after riding Native Optimist to win the three-mile handicap hurdle race.

Danny Tudhope completed a double at Redcar , riding Katies Diamond to win the maiden fillies stakes and Singeur to head the five-furlong handicap.

Keith Dalgleish sent So It's War from his Carluke stable to win the one-mile handicap.

Dalgleish's good form continued at Hamilton on May 27, when he completed a double - Neuf Des Coeurs posting an 18-1 victory in the one-mile handicap., and Moon Arc heading the 1m 1f handicap.

Hawick jockey Jason Hart was also in the winner's enclosure at the track, riding King of Paradise to a 10-1 success in the 1 m 3f handicap.

George Bewley celebrated his second victory on the trot, after Carters Rest headed the two-mile handicap chase at Cartmel the same afternoon. The 12-1 chance scored in the capable hands of Hawick amateur Joanna Walton.

Keith Dalgleish also enjoyed a consecutive success when Jacob Black got up by a neck to win the one-mile handicap at Sandown on May 28.

Another trainer to celebrate dual success was Rose Dobbin, who saddlled two winners at Wetherby the same day.

Hawick jockey Craig Nichol rode Everylasting to win the handicap chase, and half-an-hour later brought home Politeness to victory in the handicap hurdle race.

The Alnwick trainer's husband, and former Grand National-winning jockey Tony Dobbin, said Nichol had given both horses a great ride.

Coldstream jockey Nick Orpwood rode Drom to win the hunter chase.

At Newcastle on May 29, Glasgow handler Jim Goldie saddled Margaret's Mission to a 25-1 success in the one-mile fillies handicap, while Danny Tudhope rode Classic Flyer to win the concluding five-furlong handicap.

The following afternoon at Chester, Jason Hart rode Ridge Ranger to win the fillies handicap at Chester, and Keith Dalgleish added a further success to his tally when Pressure Point landed the 1m 4f handicap at York.

Narrowly beaten on her debut a week earlier, Glenrowan Rose went one better at Catterick on June 5, to get up by a neck in the opening two-year-old maiden stakes.

"She ran well last time, but was a bit green, and has come on for that," said winning trainer Keith Dalgleish.

He was back on the winning trail the following afternoon at Ayr when Dark Defender landed the six-furlong maiden stakes at on June 8.

"He has come on well from his first race and six furlongs looks the right trip for him for the time being," said the winning trainer.

Jim Goldie celebrated an across the card treble the same day, with a double at Ayr, and a further success at Thirsk.

Funding Deficit won the seven-furlong handicap, before Tiger Jim followed suit in the six-furlong contest.

Of Funding Deficit, Goldie commented, "He has been knocking on the door and I thought he had a decent chance. I told the owner to have something on."

Tiger Jim, who has won twice over seven furlongs, was well fancied by his Glasgow trainer.

"Of all my runners today this is the one I fancied the most," he explained, "He did it well in the end."

Stablemate Dhaular Dhar completed the treble with a 25-1 success at Thirsk in the 1m 4f handicap.

The 13-year-old was considered to have needed his previous run at Musselburgh.

Lucy Normile was also in the winner's enclosure on June 8, after the Duncrievie trainer saddled Royal Duchess to win the seven-furlong handicap at Ayr.

The five-year-old has won two of her last three starts, to the delight of owner/breeder Steve Dick.

"It's fantastic seeing her do it again," he said.

"I can´t believe how well she´s done, and Ayr seems to be the place for her," he added.
