The European equestrian pas de deux and junior vaulting championships were held in Stadl Paura, Austria recently.

Members of the Wee County Vaulters were involved in several of the classes.

Joanne and Hannah Eccles, vaulting on WH Bentley, produced a tremendous final performance to win the silver medal having moved up from third place after the first round. This was Britain’s first pas de deux medal and only the second time Britain has won a vaulting medal.

In the individual junior female class, Brogan Moffat again vaulting on WH Bentley finished in 16th place, the highest of the three GB junior individuals. Brogan had only been called up to vault in this class two weeks prior to the competition after one of the GB individuals was injured.

In the junior team competition, seven of the Wee County Vaulters were in the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting team which represented GB. The team which consisted of Andrew McLachlan, Hannah Young, Cassie McIlwraith, Yazmin Williamson, Amy Gullen, Rebecca Norval and Harry Cox vaulted on Go for Gold lunged by Julie Newell. The team finished in sixth place having achieved the fourth highest freestyle score in the final round.

Helen Anderson was placed 14th in the CVI** individual female class which was also held in Stadl Paura at the weekend, achieving a personal best score of 6.991.
