LUCINDA Russell completed a hat-trick at Kelso's final fixture of the season on May 24.

Successes included the £14,000 handicap chase with Ballyben.

Jedburgh jockey Grant Cockburn, who has been with her Milnathort stable for some six years, partnered the yard's other two winners - Beidh Tine Anseo in the novice handicap chase, and Make It Happen in the equivalent handicap hurdle.

Another Jedburgh jockey in form was Callum Bewley, who rode 40-1 chance Running Brook to win the opening novices hurdle for Galston handler Mike Smith.

Cave Hunter captured the hunter chase in the hands of Hawick jockey Tom Hamilton.

The gelding is trained by his mother, Wendy, for farmer Niel Manning.

Linda Perratt saddled Rock Canyon to two victories on the trot at Ayr.

The East Kilbride trainer saw her charge record a first track success on May 20, before notching a repeat victory the following afternoon.

Hawick handler Alistair Whillans also had success when Vicky Valentine - returning from a 237-day break - was the 10-1 winner of the 1m 2f handicap.

Duncrievie-based Lucy Normile saddled Royal Duchess to take the seven-furlong handicap.

"She picked up well and won nicely in the end," said winning jockey Samantha Bell.

Three-times Hamilton victor Classy Anne was also successful at Ayr for Jim Goldie.

"She disappointed twice this year but she´s a mare that needs a couple of runs to come to hand," explained the Glasgow trainer.

Goldie also scored at Musselburgh on May 22, when Rothesay Chancer won the five-furlong handicap.

The same evening, at Pontefract, Keith Dalgleish saddled Beautiful Stranger to win the one-mile handicap,

The Carluke handler was also successful at Beverley on May 23, with So It's War.

Maleficient Queen landed the fillies handicap at Carlisle for Keith Dalgliesh while, over the jumps at Carrtmel, Probably George won the hunter chase .

The 16-1 chance is trained in the Borders by Karen Lynn for her husband, Kenny, and was ridden to victory by former ladies point-to-point champion Kelly Bryson.

Lucinda Russell enjoyed a double at her local track after landing the first two races on the card at Perth on May 13.

The Milnathort trainer saddled winning pointer Wind of Hope to head the opening maiden hurdle race.

Half-an-hour later Throthehatch gave a promising account over fences to take the two-mile novice handicap chase.

Greenlaw handler Sandy Thomson saw Just Awake carry the colours of his wife, Quona, to a comfortable success in the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase.

Selkirk farmer Stuart Coltherd saddled Seventeen Black to win the two-mile novice handicap chase in the hands of Jedburgh jockey Grant Cockburn.

Chanceofa Lifetime followed up his Kelso victory to land the hunter chase for Northumberland trainer Victor Thomson and Fife jockey Kit Alexander.

Another Kelso victor, Isaactown Lad, carried the colours of the MS Borders Racing Club to a further success when landing the concluding handicap hurdle race.

Under a different code at York, Hawick jockey Jason Hart rode Udodontu to win the seven-furlong handicap.

On Perth's second day, Jedburgh permit-holder Raymond Shiels celebrated success with Tickandemickey.

In the hands of Callum Bewley, the gelding landed the three-mile novice chase on May 14,

"I thought he would stay," explained Raymond. "He´s not quick enough to go on the better ground and will go out in the field now."

At York, Irvine jockey Danny Tudhope partnered 6-1 chance Out Do to head the opening five-furlong handicap.

Carluke trainer Keith Dalgleish saddled a double at Hamilton on May 15.

Maleficent Queen, who was narrowly beaten on her debut, went one better to land the maiden stakes.

"She is a nice big filly," said Keith. " She was a bit unlucky first time as she missed the break and she was more streetwise today. She seems to like this ground."

Half-an-hour later he accounted for his second winner when Archies Advice headed the one-mile handicap in decisive fashion.

"He ran a terrible race last time and I don´t know why," explained Keith. " He´s a half-brother to Sound Advice and is a progressive sort."

Lucinda Russell was back in the winner's enclosure when Sky Khan won the 2m5f handicap hurdle race at Market Rasen on May 17.4

"He was in real trouble into the home straight but he´s a brave little horse, fighting his way through.," said the Milnathort trainer.

"I wouldn´t be surprised if we step him up again in trip to three miles."

Danny Tudhope completed a double at Redcar on May 18, landing the six-furlong maiden stakes on Beau Visage and, half-an-hour later riding 16-1 chance Candlelight to take the five-furlong handicap.

Keith Dalgleish sent Tommy Docc from his Carluke stable to land the one-mile handicap at 9-1.

At Towcester the same day, Hawick jockey Craig Nichol rode Carrigeen Lantana to her first success under Rules, in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle race.

Making a victorious handicap debut, the winner carries the colours of St Boswells owners Paul and Clare Rooney.

Danny Tudhope continued his victory trail at Newcastle on May 19, riding Savannah Beau to win the five-furlong fillies handicap.

Otterburn trainer Susan Corbett enjoyed success at her local tack when Riponian landed the concluding one-mile handicap.

Hawick jockey Wilson Renwick completed a double at Sedgefield on May 12.

He rode Black Rover Jack to win the maiden hurdle race, before partnering winning pointer Gingili to victory in the novice hurdle for Paul and Clare Rooney.

Scorpions King won the two-mile handicap hurdle race for Langholm trainer James Ewart and jockey Dale Irving.

Pauline Robson saddled Sharp Rise to clinch the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase.
