BORDERS owners Paul and Clare Rooney celebrated their third win in two days with a winner on the all-weather at Kempton on March 21.

Their four-year-old Come On Come On made it two wins from three starts with an 8-1 win in the novice stakes.

The St Boswells couple had completed a victorious double at Wetherby the previous afternoon.

The Kim Bailey-trained Sainte Ladylime gave the Rooneys their first win, justifying favouritism to head the three-mile novice chase, and beat sole rival Progress Drive.

Their second success came with Good Boy Bobby, trained by Nigel Twiston Davies and ridden by son Sam, who carried the Rooney colours to victory in the concluding bumper

At Southwell on March 21, Acker Bilk benefitted from first-time cheekpieces to post a convincing win in the 1m 4f handicap for Carluke handler Keith Dalgleish.

Hawick jockey, Jason Hart rode Newstead Abbey to win the five-furlong handicap on the all-weather at Wolverhampton on March 22.

Two Northumberland trainers had winners at Sedgefield the following afternoon.

Victor Thompson won the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle race with Donnys Dot, while Ann Hamilton saw Oak Vintage head the novice chase.

Ayrshire jockey David Allan rode Perfect Pasture to win the six-furlong stakes at Doncaster on March 24.
