It was case of third time lucky for the organisers of Drymen Show, which has been rescheduled and cancelled twice since last year's May date.

A change of venue to Balfunning Farm, Balfron Station, saw a revised light horse schedule and although there were some heavy showers, the ground held up well and classes were well supported.

Overall champion of the mountain and moorland ponies was the ridden champion, Pentrefelin Darcy Bussle. Ridden by Alison Morran from Ayrshire, the eight-year-old mare is owned by the Pentrefelin Stud in Abergavenny in Wales

The Welsh section C is by Northleach Gigalo and out of Pentrefelin Poppy, and has been ridden by Alison for three years.

This year at the Scottish Welsh Show the pony was supreme and also third in the ridden HOYS qualifier at the Highland Show.

Reserve supreme was the in-hand champion, Liz and Pat Rennie's home-bred filly Lomondside Jade.

The three-year-old dark grey filly was hunter champion here in 2011 and this year was champion at Campsie, reserve at Braco and first at the Highland, Scottish Horse Show and Perth. She is by the Olympia ridden champion Farriers Finger Print and out of Willoway Josephine.

In-hand reserve and junior showing champion was Sarah Burkhill with Rivervalley Step On, a seven-year-old Welsh section C gelding by Tyreos Survivor and out of Estoro Rose Bud, that was first at the Highland.

Reserve ridden was Holly Marshall with Caebryn Finn, a seven-year-old Welsh gelding by Talon Teifion and out of Porchin Nutmeg.

Dock of the Grey was hunter champion, ridden by Mugs Montgomerie. The 10-year-old heavyweight grey gelding hunts with the Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire and was second in the HOYS qualifier at the Royal Highland and fourth at the Great Yorkshire and Rydale.

Reserve hunter was also the coloured champion, Sam Campbell and Razzamachas, a 16-year-old skewbald gelding that has been part of the family for 11 years and hacks with mum Jackie Souter.

They event and were third at both Eglinton and Hopetoun at BE90 level and move up to BE100 at Drumclog next week.

Sam Burkhill's Small-land Smokescreen won the small riding horse class before taking the championship.

The 13-year-old is by Small-Land Maytino and out of Downland Romance and was champion at Kilmaurs.

In the riidng club horse class, champion was Julia Kerr with Royal Rising.

There were good entries in the working hunters, champion was Ellie Gallacher with Alison Snowie's Georgian Dorian. This was the pair's first championship, and Ellie has been riding the 18-year-old Welsh section B for 16 months, qualifying him for the veteran horse regional finals.

Reserve was Heather Steel with Jamieson, a nine-year-old skewbald by Stanhope Didicoy. They are members of Almon Riding Club and were supreme at Gargunnock.
