It's approaching time again for the RSABI's fantastic fundraising effort, the Great Glen Challenge.

In a special series of articles, we will be highlighting some of the teams taking part in the running, walking, cycling kayaking extravaganza – and how to help them raise money for this worthy cause.

This week we feature:

SAC Consulting – Team A(wesome)

Team members:

Lorna Macpherson, Poppy Frater, Joanna Foubister, Rob Black

Reason for taking part:

'We are all agriculture consultants and so work very closely with the farming community across Scotland and want to support the great work that RSABI does in helping those in the rural community.'

Quote/fact:

“We are all very much looking forward to taking part in the challenge although I think we’d all agree that we are not yet as fit as we would like to be for it! However, it’s the taking part that counts and helping to raise money for a very worthy cause that is close to all of our hearts.”

Emma Steel, Rebekah Strong, Caroline Pringle, Clare Sturla and Eleanor Kay.

The reasons for taking part:

The Great Glen Challenge is a fun and exciting way to raise funds for RSABI, a vital charity that provides essential support to the agricultural sector. The team from Scottish Land and Estates are looking forward to getting in the competitive spirit and battling it out against the other teams for a great cause!

Quote/fact:

'Obviously I’ll jump at the chance to get active outdoors and partaking in a charity event raising money for something so close to my heart was a no brainer! While my parents farm below the border the issues they face are the same as farmers in Scotland. Rural communities need our support to overcome growing hardships and challenges and I am proud to push myself for this cause'

5. Landmark Systems – Landmark vs Lochs

Team members: George Paterson (driver), Allistair Gray (mountain bike), John Macrae (kayak), Annabel James (run) and Kate Adams (walk).

The reasons for taking part:

Landmark Systems has a strong connection to the Scottish farming community, having provided software solutions for many years. With the recent addition of Farm Data earlier in 2019 we felt it was a good year to enter the Great Glen Challenge – Allistair has been banging on about it for three years!

Farm Data have been supporters of RSABI for a number of years. RSABI do a wonderful job in supporting all sorts of critical needs in the farming community. The effect of their work has a very positive impact on rural communities, families and individuals.

One of our team members, Annabel, raised money for The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) by completing her first marathon in London in 2018. She has motivated others in the company to do an activity-based sponsorship.

Quote/fact:

'Our five team members are based in five different locations throughout the UK. Aberdeen, Glasgow, North Wales, Cambridge and West Sussex, so we may win the prize for most air miles!'
