You may look like a princess in your stunning dress, but if you are hobbling around in uncomfortable shoes, you're day is going to seem very long indeed.

Like most of us looking for ‘added value’, today’s brides chooses a shoe that not only makes her heart skip a beat but a pair she can wear again and again. Long gone is the sartorial rule to have your shoes match your dress, it really is anything goes. A contrasting colour is especially popular, choose satin uppers and have them dyed to any shade you like. Leather, suede, metallic and glitter also feature strongly this year.

Keep it simple with a chic court shoe or opt for an on trend block heel for height with extra stability. Add a glitter heel for maximum effect from Florence and Charlotte Mills or go luxe with hand made metal flower blossoms from Harriet Wilde.

Whatever shoes you choose, comfort is key to keep you dancing in to the wee hours.

This year’s trends

Arabesque owner, Sharon Colburn gives us a round down of this year’s bridal shoe trends:

A key trend this summer comes through in deco styling, think Great Gatsby and the carefree nature of the twenties, think Temperley and Packham; think a bit Kate Moss. Move over traditional and twee vintage – it's definitely all about sparkles, kitsch shapes and directionality; t-bars, bootie-styles and sandals tied with beautiful adornments are highlighted by designers.

Here are some of our favourites from our showcased collections -

Santi by Rainbow Couture is a fabulous peep toe with a sparlky Art Deco circlet tying together the beautiful folds of duchess satin; perfect to peep out from underneath a streamlined, relaxed gown.

Fox by Benjamin Adams is t-bar sandal filled with sparkles, just to add a little bit of glitz to the occassion; Fox has an etheral feel and begs to be worn with that gossamer gatsbyesque gown.

Mary Rose by Diane Hassall is a cute short toed, conical heeled dainty shoe with an ankle strap. The beautiful tulle embroidered material and sparkled tulle clasp are the epitome of elegance and romance just like the characters of a Fitzgerald novel.

Aide by Freya Rose is a beautiful sandal with a gorgeous retro mosaic mother of pearl heel and pearl fastenings. The sandal has crossover ankle straps for directional styling and that twenties feel.

Flower by Pink is a gorgeous flat peep toe shoe, adorned with a sparkly shoe clip. The beautiful satin edging and sparkly clip provide a fabulous and on-trend flat shoe for bride or bridesmaid alike.

Clara by Rainbow Club is the ultimate shoe in comfort and style; Clara is gorgeous with it's short pointed toe and a conical heel alluding to the cutsie styles of the twenties (with comfort built in).

Carmen by Rachel Simpson  is a1920's inspired t-bar with beautiful fan detailing in two-tone nude and suede. The hidden platform provides both unique detailing and comfort and the champagne leather t-bar strap is a beautiful juxtaposition to the satin outer.

Margot by Harriet Wilde is a beautiful ankle strap designed with beautiful directional lines in exquisite satin. The platform and ankle strap hark back to dancing-shoe days: the perfect shoesies for your twenties charleston dress!

The new trends are fun and flirtatious, sparkly and beg you to dance the night away in them!
