If you are looking for a treat, this looks like a terrific way to spend a day for both seafish and whisky lovers. A service highlighting the attractions of two of Skye’s neighbouring islands has been launched – with the chance to spend a night in a whisky distillery.

Ewen Grant, 29, from Skye and partner Janice Cooney, 32, from County Kildare, in Ireland, have started half and full day cruises on their 40 foot luxury catamaran Seaflower from Portree to the islands of Raasay and Rona, serving freshly caught seafood on board.

Guests can be landed on Raasay and visit or even stay the night in the island’s recently opened distillery (www.raasaydistillery.com) which has a six bedroom Victorian villa in its grounds.

The seafood is caught by Ewen’s father, who has fished local waters for more than 40 years, and elder brother. The rest of the family’s shellfish is exported to Spain in lorries with oxygenised water tanks and sold in the markets of Barcelona.

Evening cruises with canapés and fizz are also offered, and Seaflower is available for private charter. The boat, which takes a maximum of 12 passengers, also offers marvellous views of Skye’s coastline and mountains as well as the opportunity to spot a variety of sealife.

Prices are from £50 to £125 per person. See seaflowerskye.com.
