Dunure Footprint
The first photograph shows Footprint as a mature horse in 1913 when he stood reserve champion at the Highland Show, held in Paisley, and is one of the few photos to show off his black near foreleg. This celebrated horse to this day holds almost mythical staus in the Clydesdale world and was the centre of an acrimonious dispute between his joint owners, James Kilpatrick and William Dunlop.
The second photograph shows Dunure Footprint as a yearling in 1909, the year in which he stood reserve male champion at the Royal Highland Show in Stirling and male champion at the Royal Show, which was held in Gloucester. The Baron of Buchlyvie sone was later to become one of the world's most controversial horses.
