A breed record of 32,000gns was achieved at today’s Luing cattle sale for Craigdarroch Zico staged at Wallets Marts, Castle Douglas.

From father and son duo, William and Billy Graham their rising two-year-old bull is sired by Plenderleith Wizard, whilst out of a home-bred dam going back to the 7000gns Harehead Jake. The all important bid came from Danny Sawrij, Kedzlie Farms, Galashiels.

It was a field day for the family when they sold another two high flyers at 19,000gns and 11,000gns all by the same sire. First up was Craigdarroch Zidane which found a new home with John Loder, Upper Chatto, Kelso. This boy is out of a Finlarg Nimrod sired-dam.

The latter came in the form of Craigdarroch Zazu another the same way bred, which was knocked down to John Lawrie, Tillyrie, Kinross.

Matching that  11,000gns bid was Finlarg Zinedine from Robert and Hazel McNee. This April 2020 born bull is sired by Finlarg Wrangler, out of Finlarg Bonus. He sold in a two-way split to the Douglas family, Catslackburn and McClymont family of Tinnis.

It was worth the trip down from Keith for the Simmers family, Backmuir, when their March 2020 born bull hit 10,000gns. This boy is a son of Culmaily Whiskey, out of the bought in cow, Tynedale Saturn, and taking this boy home was the Harehead team, Duns.

Last but by no means least to achieve that five figure price of 10,000gns was the best from the Renwick family of Blackhouse, with their rising two-year-old bull, Blackhouse Zidane. He is backed by the best of breeding being sired by Benhar Magnum, out of a Clunie Figo daughter. This boy now travels to Ayrshire with the Hamilton family of Allanton, Darvel.
