VERSATILITY is one of the key selling points of Polaris’ new Sportsman 6 x 6 Big Boss 570 EPS.

The Big Boss has a longer chassis than previous models to accommodate more cargo and a second person. Polaris says it is built for customers who need ultimate traction, a large payload and carrying versatility, and go anywhere capability.

For safety in rough terrain, it now has an engine braking system (EBS) with active descent control (ADC) and electronic power steering (EPS) all of which are standard.

Power comes from a liquid cooled, single cylinder Polaris ProStar engine packing 44hp and tonnes of torque. It’s also equipped with a 1.25-inch hitch receiver and has a 750kg towing capacity.

It is the first 6x6 ATV built for two people, with a small seat behind the driver. It also has the industry’s largest payload for this type of machine.

Included is Polaris’ configurable ‘Lock and Ride’ cargo system, plus 25.5-litres of integrated front storage. There’s also a rack extender that can carry 41kg.

The integrated passenger system is a raised second seat for more visibility, fitted with hand grips and foot rests. Behind the passenger sits a 340kg capacity gas-assisted dump box, with steel Lock and Ride bed rails, dual rear tracks and six high mounted tie-down points.

The useful all-wheel independent suspension has the furthest rear suspension travel of any 6 x 6 and 29.2cm of ground clearance. This also helps with ensuring that as many driving wheels as possible are in contact with the ground, which makes for much safer driving.

IN the past year Polaris has been creating new accessories from storage to shooting and cabs to comfort, creating an exceptionally wide range of accessories to enhance and customise its Ranger model.

The new Lock and Ride Pro-Fit cabs fit quickly and simply, giving the option of having doors and tip-out windscreens. Dedicated mounting points are engineered directly into the vehicle, eliminating the cab framework and providing a much larger field of vision.

Its Lock and Ride system is also used for everything from cargo boxes, the Polaris Northstar Cooler, tool rack and chainsaw mount right through to gun mount boots and in-cab gun mount, for shooting and gamekeeping.

A new power winch, rated at 4,500lb winch and built by Warn, is exclusive to Polaris and has a patented roller disc brake for assured holding power.

Brushguards, light installation points and added protection for the grille, lights and bodywork is also available.
