THE DISPLAY of slurry tankers from Irish company, HiSpec, at Grassland 2018 in Somerset, reflected the many differing specification options available from them.

While both were based on the Hi-Spec 2600 SA-R (Single axle - recessed) design, one was a 'simple' model, specified with a sight fill tube and a six-inch autofill system, operated using just a single double-acting spool valve.

It was fitted with a Agquip 7m wide dribble bar, mounted on a quick release A-frame. This used a Vogelsang Exactacut macerator, with a standard stone trap.

The higher spec' display was given by one fitted with air/hydraulic brakes and in addition to a sight tube, it also featured porthole-style sight glasses at the rear. For filling, as well as the six-inch Autofill system, it also had a sliding top hatch fill system with ladder and Bauer fill points.

For greater visibility on the road, the tanker also has four sets of twin ‘Hamburger’ type LED lights fitted on the rear.

Capacities on the six-model SA-R models range from 1350 gallons up to 3000 gallons and as standard feature a stepped axle to reduce height. The axle had commercial brakes and both show models were on 800/65-R32 Alliance 181 A8 tyres.

Options available include a Turbofill high capacity filling system, anti-lock braking, a wide range of dribble bar, trailing shoe or disc injector applicators and GPS and application monitoring systems.

Also on show was the K36 Kompactor, one of four models of push-out trailer available from Hi-Spec. It has a hydraulically headboard powered by a triple hydraulic ram, that can be used to compact material such as woodchip and grass or maize silage – increasing the load weight by up to 40%.

This can also completely empty the trailer in as little as 30 seconds, making it ideal for cramped tipping areas.
