A cheque for more than £4000 was recently presented by officials from the Glenluce Vintage Tractor Club to Amanda Harris from Cancer Research UK – it was the proceeds from when 44 tractors took part in an August 'tractor road run' which commenced at Auchenmalg, travelling south through Port William, Glasserton, and back to Port William for a mid-day break. In the afternoon, they continued via Mochrum, Culmalzie and back to Auchenmalg, via Alticry. Chairman of the club, Ken McKie, said he was overwhelmed with the amount of money raised from the many donations and collections received, along with proceeds from Maggie's Kitchen which provided tea, coffee and home bakes at the start and the finish of the event. Including Gift Aid, approximately £5000 was raised for the charity
