FOR 2021 New Holland Agriculture extended its durable all-purpose T6 tractor range with a new six-cylinder compact model, the T6.160 Dynamic Command.

This combines the high performance of the proven NEF six-cylinder engine with New Holland’s exclusive Dual Clutch and CVT technology and comes in a compact package with a 2.6m wheelbase and 10.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.

Benjamin Davies, T6 Series global marketing manager, told The SF: “New Holland has a proud legacy in this segment that started more than 30 years ago, when we launched the first compact six-cylinder tractor on the market, the 7810. It was a true game changer and the new T6.160 Dynamic Command builds on this rich heritage to offer farmers a compact low power Stage V six-cylinder tractor with embedded technology for operator efficiency.”

This means the T6 range now has two six-cylinder models with Dynamic Command – the existing 145hp T6.180 and the new 135hp T6.160, which becomes the only compact six-cylinder tractor on the market with rated power below 140hp.

This T6.160 features the proven, NEF six-cylinder 6.7 litre engine matched to a 24 x 24 Dynamic Command transmission developed in-house by New Holland. The innovative design, with eight-step push-button gear changes using Dual Clutch technology and three push-button auto range changes, picks the best gear for all applications.

The clutches have been designed for fast gear changes combined with a fully automated gearbox always set the ideal ratio and reduce the need for operator input.

The NEF engine meets Stage V emissions standards with SCR-only, a maintenance-free after-treatment system. Combined with the Dynamic Command transmission, the engine raises the bar on efficiency, achieving fuel savings of up to 9%, said New Holland

A host of automated functions makes it easy to power through a long day. These include the Ground Speed Management II (GSM II) control package which is exclusive to New Holland. It is designed to increase efficiency by automatically maintaining the target speed set by the operator, whilst reducing fuel consumption.

Another productivity-boosting feature is the Smart Range Shift which ensures the correct gear is always engaged when making a range shift, while any overlap gears from one range to the next are skipped giving sequential ratios and rapid acceleration.

The T6.160 Dynamic Command also features the award-winning SideWinder II armrest with fully integrated IntelliView IV ultra-wide colour touchscreen and CommandGrip multi-function handle.

Telematics on the tractors mean that owners are connected to their tractor through MyPLM Connect system. Using a simple tablet-based user interface, they can send and receive real-time information to help manage their fleet and farm data in a single environment.

New Holland adds another 'biggie'

To meet the requirements of customer needs, a new T8 model has been introduced within the Genesis line up from New Holland.

The T8.435 Ultra Command, a new Powershift model, will be available in both wheeled and SmartTrax versions. This new model produces 396hp at rated engine speed, 435hp peak engine power, with a peak torque of 1850 Nm. PTO performance delivers 380hp at peak power.

To make the most of the new 400hp engine, the transmission has upgraded housings, clutches and stronger shafts, with the new 21 x 5 (reverse) transmission having a speed step change of 15% throughout each gear change, and has a new slower speed of 2.3kph in first gear. Forward speed options include 50kph, or 40kph Eco on SmartTrax versions.
