Recovering from a brush with cancer has allowed vintage tractor enthusiast, Tom Allison, to treasure and take more time with his hobby.
But now Boness-based Tom is hoping to give something back to those who helped in his recovery by selling the fruits of his labour in restoring a TED20 he bought last year, for charity.
His 1949 grey Fergie – which is three years younger than Tom – has undergone a full 'nuts and bolts' restoration and will be sold at Pentland Auctions' timed auction which starts on Monday, October 11. "I'm very grateful for the treatment I received to help me with my prostate cancer and I'd like to give something back for my second chance," he told The SF.
He bought the tractor at a similar sale last year and has spent the past few months stripping it down and re-assembling it to an almost new condition. All monies raised will go to the Beatson Research laboratory where the specialist who treated Tom is based.
