In an on-line article regarding the re-introduction of lynx in the Keilder Forest, in Northumberland, The Scottish Farmer wrongly attributed quotes to UK Government environment secretary, Michael Gove, when in fact the statements had been made by the Northumberland National Park Authority.
In-keeping with maintaining the high standards of journalism which we strive for at The Scottish Farmer, we are happy to set the record straight on this issue and wish to point out that Mr Gove was not 'performing a u-turn' on lynx re-introduction as we stated.
Mr Gove and Natural England remain in consultation with interested parties, including the Lynx Trust – which supports the re-introduction – prior to a final decision which is expected this summer.
